Confident Jets have vision of own perfect ending, beating Titans BY RICH CIMINI DAILY NEWS SPORTS WRITER Thursday, November 20th 2008, 11:12 AM Squire/Getty Brett Favre (below) embraces the challenge of tackling the undefeated Tennessee Titans on Sunday, a thrill the Jets quarterback would be hard-pressed to match had he continued his short-lived retireme Sakuma/AP Brett Favre has often mentioned how much he enjoys yard work at his home in Mississippi, but mulching the flower beds doesn't produce this kind of adrenaline rush: Walking to the Jets' locker room after last week's statement win over the Patriots, Favre shared a powerful man-hug with GM Mike Tannenbaum, the man who brought him to New York. Then, as he walked into the room, a fired-up Favre called out to no one in particular, "(Bleep), yeah!" - a priceless moment already on YouTube. MYERS' TOP 10 POWER RANKINGS "A big win like we had Thursday night, I think, 'Man, it just doesn't get any better than this,'" Favre said Wednesday. "Then you play next week against a team that's undefeated." No rest for the wired. The first-place Jets (7-3) returned to work to prepare for another huge game, another showdown rife with playoff and other implications. After beating the Patriots, their longtime tormentors, for peace of mind, their new goal is to get a piece of the Titans - the 10-0 Titans. OUR EXPERTS CALL THE SHOTS The atmosphere Sunday in Nashville will be "playoff big, just like last week," according to tight end Chris Baker. True, but the potential reward will be different. Last week was for neighborhood bragging rights; this week is an opportunity to improve their street cred beyond their own neighborhood. "It's a chance to distance ourselves a little bit and show the country that we're for real," safety Kerry Rhodes said. "It's a chance for us to prove a point, and prove a point to ourselves, that we can be an elite team in the league." Said Baker: "(A win) would be a huge statement. Obviously, it would catapult us into the rest of our season and into the playoffs." They wouldn't clinch anything, of course, but a victory would trigger conversations about a division title, playoff seedings and a possible first-round bye. It would change the landscape in the AFC. Right now, it's the Titans and everybody else. The Jets, riding a four-game winning streak, want to graduate from the "everybody else" class. They may have a couple of intangible factors in their favor. The Jets are well-rested - the players received a five-day respite - and relatively stress-free. The same can't be said for the Titans. "I know that now there's a lot of pressure on them, maybe not from themselves, but from everyone else to continue this," Favre said. "I mean, there's a watch, an undefeated watch....Being undefeated is such a good thing, but then all of a sudden, it's like that becomes the total focus." Favre compared the Titans to the Giants, the defending Super Bowl champs, in the sense that they're getting every opponent's best shot. The Titans were dazed by a right hook last week, falling behind to the Jaguars, 14-3, but Kerry Collins rallied them in the second half to a 24-14 victory on the road. "With each win that Tennessee has, they're probably seeing that more and more," Favre said. "There may have been teams or players initially, when they saw Tennessee on their schedule, said, 'Okay, this one we could win.' They're not saying that anymore." Save for their pass defense, which may not be exposed by the run-oriented Titans, the Jets seem to be improving in most areas. But the Titans will challenge them, physically, more than any team they've faced. Mentally, the Jets couldn't be in better shape. Beating the Patriots was like a breakthrough session with Dr. Phil, a psychological victory that could provide a carryover effect. "That game, more than any game this year, probably did more for us," Favre said. "Time will tell. We're playing the best team in football right now. It will be a tough test, but not any tougher than what we faced last week." __________________

The Titans are due for a big letdown and we're riding an unprecidented emotional high. Things are looking good for Sunday...
honestly, weve played the titans the past 2 seasons and faired really well against them...they have the same players basically from those years. I remember in 2006, collins was the starter, and he was benched for vince young who did nothing against us either....it was in nashville too...our team this year is far better than it was 2006...yes 2008 is not 2006, but lets be honest, this game is ours if we play like we did against the patriots...in my opinion the titans offense isnt better than the patriots...if jones can help favre, and favre doesnt throw any picks, we WILL win this game
man, you keep bragging how big that Pats game was. FACT is you could not beat them in with a healthy Brady. And you lost to the Raiders. Not that impressive.
Brady would have had 462 total yards? I actually doubt that. I don't think you can make a statement like that. It would have been a totally different ball game with a totally different game plan. For any team to be 10-0 right now, it's impressive, but while you can knock the Jets 7-3 start and their schedule, I want you to show me an impressive win on the Titans schedule so far. You can say there have been a couple of decent wins, but nothing really all that impressive. 7 points at home over Jax. Eh. 17 points over Cincy. Who cares? 19 over Houston. Who cares? 13 over Minny. Eh. 3 over Baltimore. Ehhhhhhh. 24 over KC. Who cares? 10 over Indy. A little better. 3 over GB at home. Eh. 7 over Chitown away. Rex Grossman. 10 over Jax. About on par with the Indy win. I think I've made my point. Nothing too impressive. Prepare for the Jets to hang 40 in the first half on ya haha.
one word: OAKLAND Yards smards, Brady throws TD's and he is in your coaches head. Jets would have lost by 20 if Brady played.
Yeah but you can't beat smards. If a QB has so many yards that he's even getting some smards, I don't care how many TDs he's got. If Brady played, I don't think he would have done very well. He needs a new Achilles. It might hurt a bit for him to play, and personally I find it relatively tough to play QB on crutches, and even tougher on a motorized scooter. But I get what you're saying, it is hard to tackle a scooter. And he may have gotten some nitrous in that thing.
Chris Johnson is a beast, but the fact that this season Gage, Scaife, White, and Collins are being considered very good players doesn't bode too well for the Titans. I can assure you of that one. Gage is one of the worst #1 WRs in football. White is a tank for 1 yard, let's see if you can get to the 1 yard line so he can get his BS TDs. Scaife?? Decent in college, decent in the pros, but having way too good of a season for himself, that's for sure. And Kerry Collins will fumble at least twice on Sunday. Book 'em, Danno.
U talk like the titans haven't been at the bottom of their div until this year. after sunday we prob won't hear from u until the playoffs
