Or they could have built the damn place with a roof and solitified their chance at a New York Super Bowl. From a business stand point alone, it's absolutely mind boggling to build a new stadium without any chance of substantial outside revenue.
Blame it on Jersey, there is no benefit from the Jets/Giants paying for a roof that will only be used for non-football game events (minus a superbowl). Jersey said they wouldnt pay for it.
I don't really mind not having a roof. I've always been of the view that football should be played in the rain and snow, having a roof takes away all those cool snow games.
Yeah, but I don't think I've ever seen a rain or snow game in a stadium with a retractable roof. I think they all close it if it's going to rain or snow.
I feel like a child who didn't get what he wanted for Christmas and now has to listen to his dad going on about how great this piece of crap is that he bought instead. "But dad, I already have one of those!" "But this is slightly different, see? And it's, er... er... Jesus! Do you know how much this cost?!"
Not comfortable for the fans, but if you build your team correctly it can become a nice homefield advantage.
I would be really bummed if they put a roof on it. Jets/Broncos was moved to 4:15 and the first thing I thought of was playoff type atmosphere, cold and darkm, rocking crowd. Yeah baby. Been 2 years since we had anything like this. Beat the Titans, come home 8-3 with 2 high quality road wind and the joint will be jumping.
Every year or so , there would be talk of potential Jets stadiums and the rumor of interest for one . This new stadium basically squashes any talk about a Solo Jets Stadium for what? The next 10 years if not longer!
its a shame Keith Bulluck looks like a ninja turtle and kerry collins will be hit so hard hes gonna become an alcoholic again.
I totally agree. A ROOF???? What a bunch of wimps! Old school, baby. Roof shit is for fans who don't know what football is all about. You want a roof....go move to Indy and root for the Colts, wimps.
Has anyone thought about the additional money this stadium would have been able to generate with a retractable roof? There's no way a SB will ever be playing in a Northern City in January outside. Moving beyond that, Retractable roofs offer much more flexibility in the kinds of venues you could have there. It was my understanding that they wanted this stadium to generate revenue year round. A retractable roof would have added cost, but most likely would have paid for itself in short order.
