Here is an amusing read from Phil Mushnick today. I personally agree with his view, but I'm sure some will find his cynical, surley type of writing an annoyance. Regardless, it's interesting to see someone else's point of view on this that isn't a Gang Green member. The most poignant being his view of PSL's being a lease, you don't even own them for life. And what is my favorite quote, "Heck, if PSLs are good investments, NFL owners would be eager to buy them from one another, not to sell them to you."

NOT that anyone has money left to throw at JetsNew York Jets or Giants PSLs, but even in good times they'd still be absurdly expensive and worthless. Jack, from Jack and the Beanstalk, had a better shot.

Yet the local news and sports media - and politicians, most of whom have no trouble attending the biggest ticket games continue to give this malodorous scheme a look-away pass.

With New York the No. 1 TV market, the Jets and/or Giants merely have to have decent seasons to play lots of late-afternoon and night games the next season.

Then there's in-season "flexing," the kind that has changed Nov. 30's Broncos-Jets from a 1 p.m. game to 4:15 in exchange for CBS money. New York teams are highly susceptible to such flexes. In late November, 4:15 starts are night games.

For whatever tens of thousands one might pay for PSLs (and for crying out loud), the NFL can't even guarantee what time the games begin, that what's scheduled for 1 p.m. won't be switched, a week or two out, to 8:15 for NBC's Sunday nighters.

Then there's NFL commissioner Roger Goodell's claim that PSLs are "good investments." How so? They're not open-ended; one doesn't own a PSL for perpetuity. They last only as long as the new stadium does "in its current configuration," therefore the PSLs are leased, not owned.

As those versed in real estate will tell you, ultimately the value of leased property increases only for the owner of the property, not for the party paying the lease. One can't sell their PSL at a profit as its expiration grows nearer.

And over the life of your PSL, the team can just keep raising ticket prices, nothing you can do about it - unless you can find a bigger sucker than yourself.

Heck, if PSLs are good investments, NFL owners would be eager to buy them from one another, not to sell them to you.

I really hope they weren't depending on the money from the PSLs to pay for the new stadium. In this economy they have no chance at selling them for their current prices. They couldn't even sell the expensive ones to big corporations.

    Exactly.

Why would a Jet fan on the 20 yard line pay a $15,000 K PSL when there is a guy on the 50 yard line in row 5 who got a PSL for $13,000 K????????????????????

What are the Jets gonna do? Idiots

My cousins have had tix and drove from LI for 25 years and may finally give them up. :shit:

I'll be very interested to see what options are left after the "tier 1" fans get their pick...I would think I fall in the middle, but there are a lot more fans than you would probably think that have 15+yrs on their season tickets. Regardless, I won't be a very tough decision financially...If there isn't a seat available for under $4k, I'm out. Doesn't really make sense to me otherwise, and I think spending that much is silly given the current environment. Like most have said, why not save the money, and get the tickets at face value on Ebay or Craigslist, and save yourself the seat license vig.

I live on Long Island too, got my tickets on a crazy scenario from ex prez of team who lives here,(his name leaves me at moment) Anyway my neigbor had no idea that tickets were so hard to come by, she thought you just asked, so she said to him a my neighbor is big jet fan get him season tickets, he said get back you, she told me I laughed, next day she said he stuck his head in mailbox asked her 2or4 she told Me I said 4 figured it was better. Anyway I thought is was all bullshit, but 2 weeks later in my mail box sat my 4 jets tickets section 123 row 30 seats 19-22, I hate to give them up but I am not forking off that money. How do we all fit upstairs? if we dont want to pay.

Tell me something the bill is coming out for PSLS this winter, can I keep next years seat even if I dont' want to continue into the new stadium would suck if I cant keep for next year.
