teams are also learning how to beat them. Each opponent has gotten closer to doing so each week, but they are a 2nd half team, the Jets are a 1st half team + 4th qtr. If they outscore the Titans in the 4th qtr alone, they have a great shot at a 4 pt win. Mistake free football is everything. If Favre does happen to throw 1 INT, the threads calling for his head will surface.
And we've lost to the Raiders and almost lost to the Chiefs, who have gotten killed by practically every team they have played. I don't want to buy into the first half of the season by now anyway, the team wasn't all on the same page and the CS wasn't compensating for it. And I don't buy this 'weak schedule' crap on either side of the fence. It's all about how well we have matched up against teams than about the perceived overall strength of the teams we have faced. They look like they are getting it together from top to bottom right now, but there is a long way to go before I think they can go all the way. Hopefully they can show us they're doing it quickly on Sunday.
i noticed that too. But it is an average of 10-12 voters and they all voted differently. Each voter favors other teams, so it all evens out (hence the records being the same as rankings) you can see how everybody voted on ESPN.
Well I don't think you could consider a jump from 6 to 2-5 "sky-rocketing", but there is no question the Jets will be a big time contender for the #2 seed in the AFC if it happens which is good enough for #3 or 4 in the power rankings. If we happen to lose Sunday, we will still have a legit shot at #2 seed, but we would likely have to run the table.
True, but to be fair, both of the 7-3 teams ranked ahead of us were ranked ahead of us in ESPN's preseason rankings as well. We've had to climb from the depths. =)
People keep saying we have a cupcake schedule and we haven't played any good teams... have any of you actually looked at the numbers? The Jets combined opponent's record: 40-60-1 The Titans combined opponent's record: 40-59-1 Now let's say the Titans were 7-3 like the Jets, then that record would be 43-56-1. Now I'm not hating on the Jets or anything, I think you guys have a great team and it wouldn't surprise me if you won. But I'm just so sick of hearing we haven't played anyone and we have an easy schedule. There's no such thing as an easy schedule in the NFL. So please, stop with that.
Respect????AYFKM?!?!?!? I saw..Arizona 5. Jets 6. Can these A$$hole$ come over and watch my tape of that game? Oh...and BTW 27-14 this weekend. Best............Team..............In..............AFC. (Giants performance against Balt still too big to overcome, unless the Jets put up 500 yards t.O. this weekend.)
You've had an easier schedule. No doubt. I've made the same argument. But. We lost to the Oakland Raiders any given sunday, hasn't bitten you yet. Weak Schedule counts. But not for everything. I think we field a better team on Sunday. But even if we win, you're two games up. But thats why we play the games.
I saw Arizona 7 and Jets 6. The top 5 is fine. Were you looking at different rankings? Jets are not better than ESPN's top 5, yet.
It is indeed a great movie - perhaps my favourite line in it is a complete throwaway... King: One day son, all this'll be yours. Prince: What, the curtains?

In terms of the remaining schedule, which team has it harder, Titans or Jets? I know the Giants and Lions (poor bastards) are tied for the hardest, but that's all I know. This is a key thing to keep in mind when you're talking about 1 and 2 seeds. I know the Titans don't have the hardest schedule in the world remaining, what does the Jets look like in terms of winning percentage? And going off the winning percentages of opponents and reaming Baltimore's defense, how are the Giants not more consistently #1? Sorry, but the fan(atic) in me just had to get that out.
After Tennessee: Denver at SF Buffalo at Seattle Miami its not that hard, its the west coast trips that may be tough. The home games are must wins. Those teams just aren't that good. I think there is one game on the west coast that they could lose. Tennessee has PIT and Indy, so I guess they have the harder schedule.
