Hi, I'm back. A couple of years ago I was GM for the Jets in a Bear Board mock draft. Well, I'm back. Once again I need help. I think I've done pretty well through two rounds in a "no trade" mock, picking up Jay Cutler, Lendale White, and Eric Winston. But I'm certainly going to need help in the third rounds. Whatever aid you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Here's a link to the draft. http://cbfans.easycgi.com/mbbs2/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=30696&mid=194190#M194190

You had us taking Jay Cutler at 4? If we reached for Cutler over Brick, Mario Williams, Bush, or Matt Leinart...I might die...Not one of those guys should go after Cutler...

I love that draft. I'm definitely pro-Cutler. I like grabbing a RB at #29, although I'm torn. I lean towards Lendale, but Maroney's explosiveness is intriguing. Now that Teague has been signed, #35 is the right spot for an OT. A good one will be available there.

Look for D-line help at the next pick and a WR with the comp. pick.

I really think the first three will probably go like this. So now you're stuck with Mario Williams. I simply can't see the Jets taking Mario after they just let Abraham go, but oh well.... I think ideally you'd like to trade down here, but that's not an option in this mock.

As for the Mike Mayock line, that was a joke. Still, I think that the Jets just might be forced into Cutler at #4 in this draft. There are a lot more pundits than just Mayock who think that Cutler's the best QB in this draft. In fact, this mock draft muncher shows Cutler going to the Jets at 4 eight times (third after Brick and Mario). http://www.fanmonster.com/public/muncher/SuperMuncher/selections.asp?site=118

    Wow!

I wish I had come here before making my first selection. I really thought the vast majority of Jet fans wanted Cutler. But thinking about it, Mario Williams makes a whole lot more sense.

You can always look to a Brodie Croyle later. And you don't even have to reach for him in the second. I was listening to Sinorice Moss a couple of days ago on NFL Radio and he was raving about the QB who threw to him for his Miami workout in Miami, Omar Jacobs. He said that Jacobs had a lot of zip with touch as well and that he didn't miss a single pass the entire workout. So if Croyle's gone by the third than you can always go for somebody like Jacobs in the fifth.

I do think, however, that you have to address RB with that late first round pick. Personally, I don't think White will be there as Carolina will select if nobody else. But if you don't get RB here, you're going to run into problems. Also, the top of round two seems ideal to nail your left tackle.

    Thanks for the input.

    Cutler?

If the Jets take Cutler at #4, GM's around the league will collectively spit their Rum and Cokes all over there draft boards. The next sound will be large gaffaws.

Mario is THE best defensive player in the draft, to get him at #4 would be a bargain considering he is the only other player that Houston is negotiating with at #1. Cutler doesn't belong in the top 5, I would take Mario, Hawk and Vernon all before I took Young or Cutler.

Cutler is NOT the best QB in the draft, all 3 of these QBs have flaws and nobody wants to decide on the consensus #1 QB because they are all pretty high risk. Leinart is like Trent Dilfer... smart, weak arm, won't make mistakes but virtually no athleticism. Cutler has a lot of potential, but not enough to pick him in the top 10. Young could be a monster if he ends up in a program that doesn't need him to start for 2 years so he can re-learn how to play QB.

I loved the Winston pick but am not too excited by Culter or White.

In round three there should be good value at tight end, guard, and outside linebacker. Possibly a cornerback or defensive tackle as well. Those are all need areas that are fairly deep in this draft.

Nothing like taking the two most overrated players at their positions in LenDale and Cutler.

At least you were able to get Winston in the second.

We still need a pass rushing OLB, NT, OG/OC, probably another OT later, maybe a CB or WR/TE.

Why would he take Drew if he has White?

I love White at 29, Cutler I don't like too much at 4.

Don't Be So Sure On Cutler At #4

I agree with everything you guys have to say about your four pick. It makes a lot of sense. But don't be so sure you won't take him. It wouldn't be the first time you guys have been disappointed on draft day. In fact, it seems to be a pretty regular occurence. rofl.

    Sorry, but I couldn't resist.

I think White at 29 is an absolute steal, but he won't be there. I heard his interview on NFL radio the other day, and he's going to try to run the 40 before the draft. And even if he doesn't, Carolina has already pretty much said they'd take him without it. Interesting stat: Lendale White - 24 TDs; Reggie Bush - 16.
