This is not a negative thread, but more of a reuniting of old friends that may be positive in the future for our beloved team.

If Crennel gets fired this year, and you are Woddy/Tanny, do you hire Romeo Crennel as your Defensive Coordinator?

    I certainly would.

I've been hoping for this for two years. If Cleve. would have had another bad season last year, he might have been fired before this season. Could happen after this year--He would have to be seriously considered. I think EM has a good relationship with him and would hire him.

everybody is saying he might go back to NE, we've got to at least try and scoop him up first.

Yes, you get Crennell if you can. However, Miami and New England will be trying to do the same. Romeo's relationships with the two Bills goes deeper than with Eric. Mangini is also waiting to see if Ryan finally shakes loose from Oakland.

YES! Hopefully the talent level personnel (roster) of the JETS would persuade him this way.

I would, but my question is if Mangini is the def genious, why doesn't he call the plays. If he does, how will hiring a new dc help?

good point.counter point:does he call the plays because he doesn't trust sutton and there hasn't been anyone available who shares his philosophy?if so crennell fits the bill and we have to make a run at him.

crennel is a guy i would go after in a second. he is a great coordinator. i think he could probably be a good head coach too if didn't get stuck with that mess in cleveland. he is a clear upgrade over sutton. this defense would be dominant with crennel at coordinator instead of simply above average with sutton.

Some coaches are hands on, others hands off. The former philosophy being "I'm the head coach so I obviously know more about this than you" (usually only one side of the ball, though) and the latter being "you're a coordinator for a reason. I'll give my opinion, but you call the plays".

Most coaches are, for the most part, hands off when it comes to play calling. They'll say "I like this", and sometimes its an implied "you should like this too" but often it isn't. It's just the HC giving their opinion to the coordinator, but it is the coordinator's job to call the plays.

Same for Mike Nolan and Dom Capers.

Anyone of those 3 would be fine with me.

I'm not sure about that. Mangini and crennell are supposedly very close. I remember when we played them in 06, Mangini got very emotional when asked about crennell before the game. Also, remember that Mangini was the defensive backs coach while Crennell was the defensive coordinator at NE. So, they spent hours upon hours gameplanning together. It makes sense that they would be pretty close.

Sure let's hire Crennel who was overrated as DC in NE and who is the HC of a team that has one of the worst defenses in the league and get rid of the Sutton/Mangini tandem that has improved our defense immensely. Brilliant!

Everyone else loves the move. You hate it.

    Wonder why.

The OP has something to do with it.

Just because the darksiders love the move doesn't make it right. They wanted Favre's head, Coles' head, etc etc. They are consistently WRONG just like you are!

i would think that with all his rings that he could get a college job, but to answer your question, sign him up, he can't be worse than what we have.

I guess you're such an expert on the subject. Have you ever devised a defensive scheme? Have you ever been in the facility and seen either person work? No I didn't think so but you're an expert!

It was the Chad suck ups like you that didn't want Favre and have been all over him since day one.
