Dear Darksiders: You are cordially invited to take this season off. I invite you to enjoy football like the rest of us. You no longer need to hide away locked in your dark room with TGG.COM launched and ready to go with the first failure. You can actually enjoy football! Remember what that was like? I'll tell you what. I call all darksiders to maintain hope and optimism for this season. Beginning next season you may commence with your usual pessismistic ways. Please RSVP before kickoff tommorow. You can practice enjoying football ny watching other teams and then once you have it down you can begin next Sunday with the Jets game. Look at it as the first day of the rest of this season!
we really only have a few people who i would truly consider a "darksider" most everyone else has just seen the jets screw up forever. i can't really blame the older guys for always expecting something bad to happen. it usually does. on thursday after the jets missed the td to keller my dad im'd me and said "this was the score of the fake spike game, i have a bad feeling." i told him to stop with his crying and a little bit later it looked like he was gonna be right. sure they ended up winning but they made it a close game. i can see where those guys are coming from. most of them do enjoy football they are just so used to the jets screwing up they cant let themselves get over excited.
Nice thread. Its time to start believing that success can be had, and stop waiting for something bad to happen. Know that the win is there, believe in no mistakes, don't get nervous even if a lead lessens. Confide in your team. Pure confidence is how its going to be done. Success and Nothing Less.
As a disclaimer...If you vote no...Please consider rooting for another team because this is supposed to be enjoyable not stressful
I can say with 100% honesty that I am LOVING this season. I really believe that something special is building here, and it will hit it's stride in a few weeks. Hold on, boys and girls...
Jets ARE going to make the playoffs. They've been coming together in the last 4 games and I expect them to win the next 4 or 5 of the last 6 games. I predict we'll finish the regular season with a 11-5 record, win the AFC East, and win the first playoff game... where we go from there I don't know, but I'm optimistic.
I think we can actually get the #2 seed. Maybe at 11-5, but 12-4 is a safer bet for that. We're going to have to beat the Titans eventually if we're going to win an SB, so why not do it now to send them the message?
I agree. Sundays are stressful as hell, but worth every ounce. I live and die with this team during the game and step back and try to be as objective as I can after. This season is proveind a lot of ups and downs, but more ups. Its been a ton of fun to be involved in hehe.
I really don't get the whole darksiders vs. sunshiners bullshit that is going on here lately. We're all Jets fanatics enjoying what has been a pretty damn exciting season so far. Let's enjoy the ride.
Agreed.....It's getting ridiculous. You cannot expect someone who has followed the Jets for any length of time to not think of years past. We all have hope. We all want to win. Other perspectives is what make the board interesting and empassioned. If you cant take the other side of an argument perhaps you should find some utopian, rainbow, fairy message board to chill in. Good luck with that as its in every humans nature to look at both sides of any action and form their own conclusions..
As one of those "older guys", I thank you for your kind words and understanding. Being a darksider is not a conscious choice but results from years of conditioning.
Man, I am ALL OVER this already. This is the best Jets team I have ever seen--no offense to previous Jets teams that made the AFC championship games, I love all of them, but this team is better.
A noble effort on your part my brother. I don't think it will work because they deep down enjoy making idiotic negative statements and then calling anyone who calls them out a troll. They are naturally negative people who view the glass as half empty rather than half full.
I agree with you. I get the feeling a lot of message board posters are expressing their own frustrations here because they live the life of a total LOSER. Therefore, their football team will be a LOSER. And all they can do is project hat the Jets will be LOSERS because they themselves are LOSERS. So, when there's a big game on tap, they post stuff about how they're gonna KILL THEMSELVES because they expect to LOSE. I am not a loser, and I do not consider the Jets to be a team of losers, even though they have had a tough history. And I honestly think they just might win the Super Bowl this year--they are that good.
No one will ever convince me that I am not a loyal fan. I have stuck with this cursed team for almost 30 years now, I don't have to apologize for anything. And if it wasn't for darksiding fans we'd still have Joe Walton as our coach.
It's not about hope and optimism or doom and pessimism. The team is 7 & 3 and controls its own destiny. Fact is 7 & 3 doesn't guarantee squat. If the team losses next Sunday and the Bills come in and beat us the Sunshiners will be gone. It doesn't matter what the Fins do, the Bills do or the Pats do and it doesn't matter if you're an optimist or a pessimist. The Jets control their destiny right now, what they do with that control is all that matters. Dominate teams that play complete football games win SB. We are not a dominate team yet. We have shown flashes and that's something to be optimistic about. We have also shown flashes of a lack of focus an ability to be passed on that's almost scary and that's something that pessimists have to hang their hat on. It's a long ride, its been pretty good so far but it's far from over. I wouldn't get to giddy about what we have done or be to upset about the lapses. There is still a long way to go.
