Collinsworth was saying dumb crap all night, like he was high or he just didn't care. But he also called a lot of stuff, predicted that backing off of Moss would hurt, predicted that the prevent would fail.
i said to the people next to me "if its a 35 yard FG he will miss it" it was a 34 yard FG... i was 3 feet of scared.
I have watched that field goal 50 times at least and I swear the camera angle made it look a lot closer than it was. I would guess it was in by at least 4 or 5 feet.
I'm fucking shitting my pants when ANY kicker for the jets lines up for a game winning field goal. I needed a lot of therapy after the D.Brien debacle in the playoffs. *shudder*
It's no coincidence that once Nugent got healthy, Feely's distance and accuracy improved as well. I kinda like the pressure this situation presents our kickers. They needed a kick in the ass. Now, all we need to do is "motivate" Lowery as well..
I felt much better with Feely kicking instead of that other guy who wears #1 I cant remember his name.............hmy:
Pretty scared , only because the kicks he has missed this season were similar to the range he hit the game winner from. At first glance I thought it didn't clear it, but it did, and I proceeded to jump around like a maniac. All worth it, of course.
I knew he was 100% making it, no doubt. I already sat through the Mets season, I wasn't having it reincarnated via the Pats game.
That's not how it works. Once the ball is kicked, that is it, barring penalties. You don't get multiple chances at FG's. Otherwise, why are game winning attempts just kicked on 1st down? Thats 4 shots to make it! The reason you kick it on 3rd down is on the off chance their is a really bad snap, or if the holder sees a guy got threw unblocked. HE can cover up the ball, eat dirt, and kick it again on 4th down. In any situation, barring penalities, you only get one actual kick.
I was pretty confident that Feely would put the dagger in the hearts of every Patriot player and fans. Can't way I was 100% confident, because after all, we are the New York Jets.
All I could think about was a block and the crowd rouring. For some reason I did not perceive a miss at that range. I was really f'in scared because I knew if he missed game over cus we couldnt stop the detroit lions from running down the field at that point. Im probably not the only one but I need to exercise the Jets deamons from my head.
I was in my usual Jets state of "limbo" by then knowing that I was destined to walk the earth with an anvil on my back having blown our 'unsurmountable' lead. I loaded my Jack D glass and prayed. (It was 4.45 am in the UK by this time). Thank you Feeley. My wife tore me an new asshole in the morning for seeing off half a bottle of Jack but I was boosted for the day.
