This is it! This is what we've been waiting for since..., well since FOREVER!!! This is a defining game for Mangini, and for how Favre will be remembered in NY. We need to beat the shit out of the Patriots tonight!!! We need to show those Boston Bastards there's a new team in town, and not the same old Jets, that are intimidated by those ugly uniforms those cheatin' bastards wear! The 3 keys to this game, IMO, are pretty obvious. 1- "Play to win the game"- Mangini has to coach this game as if the loser will be stoned in the town square, after it's over. No conservative play calling. From the first whistle, PUT THE HAMMER DOWN!!! 2-Favre has GOT TO think before he just chucks the ball in the air, and hope our team comes down with it. THROW THE BALL AWAY IF THERE'S NOONE OPEN!!! We can not win this game turning the ball over like we've done in the past. Simple 3- Our linebackers HAVE TO set the tone of this game! We've got to show guys like Welker, and the RB'S, that if your going underneath, over the middle, YOUR GONNA GET HAMMERED! We need to say to the Pats, "if your gonna beat us, Cassel's gonna have to beat us deep". If our LB's can't take away the dink and dunk, underneath stuff, it's gonna be a long night. That being said, the thing that scares me the most is, i feel we can't lose this game! I have an air of confidence in this team, in this game, that i feel OUR TIME HAS COME! I'm so confused. I'm not sure how to handle these feelings. I feel fuckin' giddy!! JETS 34 PATS 17 MAY GOD BLESS US!
Thats an optomistic score considering its the Pats at home in bad weather conditions. I agree with your points though, even though I think Mangina is not capable of going for the throat, he will be to scared of making big mistakes by taking to many chances. Here's to sticking with the running game all night, even if it is failing miserably.
We MUST stop the dink and dunk screen passes, the only passes Cassell is able to throw. If we stop those screen passes to Welker and Faulk the Pats offense is DONE!
The key to this game is 53 guys getting off the bus with total resolve, focus to do their job and act with a calm sense of urgency. We don't need to fool anyone we need to punch and take a punch until the gun sounds. Lets hope the bus driver has good directions.
I had dinner at Davio's last night, just outside the stadium. A rockin' Northern Italian cuisine. They should definitely avoid that place.
This is the most important thing. It's probably the only thing Favre hates more than losing, but it's essential. We've got a defense, punt the ball. I'll take a 9-6 Jets victory over a 44-40 shoot-out loss any day of the week. No picks, Brett. If Brett Favre throws zero interceptions, I just don't see how we could lose.
the three keys to winning tonight: 1. establish run game and let Favre manage the game 2. stop the short passing game on defense 3. most importantly, solid coaching. The team has the talent to win, the coaches need to put them in a position to succeed.
Forget either team running effectively tonight. This game will be decided by Favre or Cassel and how can you not like that? Especially in bad weather.
The key to the game is can we stop the short and intermidiate pass routes that the Pats love so much. We haven't stopped the short game at all this year. I think we have to dare Cassell to throw deep and maybe we can get some turnovers.
2: Favre does not have to change who he is to beat the pats. Lest we forget, his lone super bowl ring was off beating the pats, and he certaintly didn't change how he played in that game. Favre never gives up on a play, and hates throwing it away. I am not saying he should just hand the other team the ball, but to ask him to not attempt to put it in a small window is like telling Favre he should just go retire right now. Favre is who he is, and those small window throws when no one is open could just as easily be why you WIN the game as well. I will not ask favre to be less of a risk taker: I will just ask that he makes sure when he takes the risk that he is choosing the best spot on the field to do so.
That was on the natural surface. Right after that game Kraft ripped up that field and installed a fieldturf surface.
Spread their Defense out! Create mismatches vs the Old LB'ers... Why don't we ever do that!? You think they can Defend Leon out of the backfield? Fuk no! Make em run around!
