    RAIDERS CLAIM JUSTIN MILLER
Posted by Michael David Smith on November 12, 2008, 5:43 p.m. EST

The Oakland Raiders have claimed a speedy cornerback off waivers, a week after placing a speedy cornerback on waivers.

Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports that the Raiders have claimed cornerback Justin Miller, formerly of the Jets. Last week the Raiders waived cornerback DeAngelo Hall.

Per Schefter, the Raiders were one of three teams to put in waiver claims for Miller. The Broncos and Dolphins wanted him as well, but the Raiders get top priority because they have the worst record.

Miller was once among the NFL’s best kick returners, and he was chosen to the Pro Bowl after the 2006 season. But he was limited to just two games in 2007 and had played just one game this year before the Jets waived him.

Considering the career he's had for the past two years, it can only go up at this point. He might still be a decent kick returner for them.

Now with waivers claims in the NFL does the player have a choice?

If the raiders came calling as did the Broncos and Dolphins, can he just be like fuck you oakland? I would think its wierd that he absolutely has to sign if he is picked up on waivers.

I was shocked the Patriots didn't pick him up to get some Jets D scoop.

Nope...technically no choice. Think of it like a trade or being a restricted free agent. Those are other situations where a player has no choice. You would have to be a veteran to even qualify for FA, where the players actually get to choose. I'm guessing the added bonus of waivers favors the Jets, as Oakland has now claimed his contract along with his ass.

I feel like I should throw him his ball and glove like they did to Steve McQueen when he was being sent to the cooler in The Great Escape.

I didn't think Justin Miller was good, but goddamn, what did he do to deserve this?

Oh well, I guess Al Davis is sticking to his formula.

So, the fact he was claimed off waivers means we actually get something for him, doesn't it?

They probably brought him in for an initial interview and realized he is brain-dead.

If he knew anything about our defense he'd still be here.
