http://myespn.go.com/blogs/nfceast/0-5-71/Back-by--popular--demand--The-Mosley-Mailbag.html You guys have been even more prolific than usual over the past few days. I've been perusing the 2,200 questions in the Mailbag for the past 37 hours. Thanks for taking the time to participate in such a worthy cause. Ben in Philly: Matt, enjoy the blog. A quick Giants question: I am curious to learn a little bit about the Giants' offseason plans. It seems like they will have three major contractual issues to resolve: Brandon Jacobs (who wants to be paid like a top running back), Corey Webster and Eli's extension. It seems to me very difficult to see how they accomplish all three, and even two might be a stretch. Do you have a sense, from your Giants sources or your own familiarity with the game, of how they are likely to prioritize those three contracts? What is your sense of the likelihood that each of those gets done? Mosley: Obviously, Eli Manning will receive a huge contract. If Webster keeps playing like he is, he'll receive a signing bonus of somewhere in the neighborhood of $14 million. Brandon Jacobs will be tough because the Giants have very capable backups in Derrick Ward and Ahmad Bradshaw. The one you didn't mention is linebacker Antonio Pierce. He's been quiet about it, but he's not pleased with his current situation. If the Giants win another Super Bowl, the entire roster will be in GM Jerry Reese's office.
TJ is the AFC's leading rusher, he wont be going anywhere. A new RB might be drafted on the 2nd day in the draft as the 3rd string guy but thats it. I would like a good backup though, TJ getting up there in years, no matter how in shape he is.
tj would back up brandon jaobs? your crazy if we signed jacobs wed drop tj like that no questions asked
With our competent o-line, i take Jacobs in a second. Man is a force to reckon with like no other. Him and Leon would be scary.
technically he doesnt have to move or anything if signs with us , but really he will get franchised or something they would be stupid to let him go
ill stick with thomas jones thanks. i would also like to see more leon washington, as jones ages washington should be taking some of his reps not a big money signee like jacobs. i could definitely see us picking up a back 2nd day in the next draft though.
What makes you think the Giants are going to let him go? And even if they weren't intending on resigning him, we don't need him.
I really think you guys are wrong about Jacobs. There is not only a chance, but a solid chance they don't sign him. Derrick Ward and Ahmad Bradshaw is not only a serviceable platoon, but a GREAT ONE. If I was the Giants, I would put the money more towards a need, like the secondary (aka signing Webster and a safety) And then, if I'm the Jets I sign Jacobs in a second. Jacobs >>>>>TJones
Would those guys be half as effective without Jacobs destroying the defense first? He's not going anywhere. I'll bet you whatever you want. Those guys can be replaced, you don't find 260 lb guys that run a 4.5 40 anywhere.
i'm surprised there weren't more ppl saying they'd rather have TJ than Jacobs... not that it matters though, because the Giants aren't dumb enough to let a player like that go. but if for whatever reason they did I and anyone with half a brain would sign him and drop TJ in a second.
Last year or even early this year I would have said do that in a minute but I am willing now to see how Jones does the rest of the season now when it really counts. The last few weeks he has been great.
rofl brandon jacobs leaving the giants would be the worst move the giants can make. if they wanted to make it and he ended up in green and white. id be fucking extatic. but we can all smell the folgers crystals and move on. cant we? lol
