Brick wins this hands down, and heres why. They only pass rushers I have ever seen give Dbrick fits ( particularly in the past years) are the ones that are power rushers, like Schobel or Seymore. I dont recall anyone like that was a speed rusher ever giving his any trouble. If you cant bull rush him, you have to get around him, and there really isnt any hope getting around the enormous wingspan of Dbrick. Its pretty awesome that hes learning to handle these "power ends" now.....he seems to really be coming into his own now.
It must of been Mathis then cause I remember someone almost takin Chads arm off during the sack and it was vs D'Brick. I have the game on DVD. I'll double check it. ...and Taylor has gotten at least a sack in all but 1 game off of D'Brick and yes, it was on his side not from the other.
Yea...Taylor got a sack against D'Brick last year...but that first game last year was epic for D'Brick. It's the first time I saw him get mean. It was nice.
what would be a win or loss for brick? would giving up one sack but getting called for holding 3 times be a win? just curious as to how we would define a win for brick so i could know if it was realistic or not.
I say D'brick. Physically D'brick was made to block the speed pass rushers like john abraham and Jason Taylor. It's when he goes up against bull rushers like Schobel, where D'brick has had major problems. I say in the end D'brick should be able to beat Abe
Depends what the game plan would be. If the jets were to run that idiotic spread as much as they did against Oakland, Abe gets at least one sack, which a lot of people would see as a victory for him. If they use a balanced running attack, Abe gets buried.
Abe trips over a blade of grass on the way to pre-game warmups, resulting in season ending knee damage. Advantage: Brick
JAbe is the kind of cat-quick and speedy edge rusher that D'Brick was drafted to stop. I'd take D'Brick at this point in the matchup given the progress he's made this season. Faneca really is a mediocre pass blocker, but having him next to D'Brick seems to have worked wonders for his development.
Wow...I noticed he's been playing well but I just went and check his stats...10 sacks and 3 FF through half a season... Thats right in line with what he does every year, so expect some minor injury that he makes major.
You will get a chance to see this next year as Atlanta is scheduled to visit the Jets in 2009. Jets will play the NFC South and AFC South next season.
John Abraham has 3 sacks versus Oakland, 2 sacks against the Chiefs and 3 sacks against the Lions. Against the other 5 teams they played he has 2 sacks. Abe has always been this way, he racks up stats against weaker competition and disappears against elite talent.
Many pass rushers are like that. Better teams tend to have better pass protectors...Justin Tuck's sacks have come against depleted/faltering or just plain bad O-lines...doesn't make him any less of a player. Especially since sacks aren't even half the picture in pass rushing...
That would be an intriguing match up. Also if the game were played in Tha ATL, I'd get to see it live.
