Well, it may be ancient history but Ray Mickens was a great 3rd CB behind Glenn and Coleman. Perfect Nickelback. Quick enough to stay with Slot Receivers on 3rd down.
Great win yesterday, but other than some individual plays you could be picky about, the worst Jet on the field award has to go to Coleman. Does this guy ever make a good play?
You are correct, the guy simply has a lack of instincts and horrible execution. Every team we play puts a target on his back whenever he's on the field. I wish he would just go away.
I've been saying all season that he's our biggest defensive liability. In our early struggles in passing D, every big 3rd down gain and every drive sustaining play came against our nickelback. While Barrett saved himself with that key INT return early in the season, Coleman has been nothing but terrible. To those arguing he's "serviceable", where the hell are you getting that from? He's a late pick from a CFB conference known for its LACK of defensive prowess who hasn't shown a thing since he came to the NFL.
I think that a guy like Hank Poteat is "serviceable". In fact, I don't know why he didn't see more playing time than Coleman yesterday.
I saw Hank a lot more after the Parrish catch on Coleman. Coleman had a promising rookie season, and then it all went down hill. Sad, the kid is so fast that if his technique got better, he'd be a damn good nickel guy. They need Miller back.
There are enough threads asking where Vernon Gholston has been.... Lets start a where is Justin Miller thread???? This guy gets so much hype during training camp about how great he is practicing and, this year is finally going to be his year, then he gets toasted in a game gets hurt and dissapears. I for one just dont get it. Moral of the story YES coleman is terrible. I want Miller in there
Good start, but I am indeed looking for players today. I had a conversation about this with a Ravens fan I work with. His position is that nickle backs these days suck the league around. He offered to trade Coleman for basically any of their CBs.
