Special teams has really picked it up...except for Feely...since he came aboard. Just felt like saying it, since our solid ST performance lately has been knocked down a little by Feely's kicking. Not that Hodge's is super good...but he's helped stabilizing something that was absolutely murdering us early in the year. Nice, quiet move by us.
Take it easy on Feely guys. Seriously, yeah he missed a 37 yarder. But in all honesty, he's made 3 this game. The reason we are up by 9 points. Not only that, but Nugent missed a 22 yarder earlier in the season.
Feely is just a kicker. He'll make his share and miss his share too...I do want Nugent back...but only fully healthy. Never trust the kicker until you...well until you can.
Seems to be good as a punter. Like all punters, the less we talk about him, the better things are for us. Great job on the Holds this week. Dearth did not do a good job snapping, without some clutch holding we could have lost this game.
there is never any reason to take it easy on a kicker. missing anything inside of 40 yards for an nfl kicker is inexcusable no matter who you are. these guys have one job and that is to kick the ball. its all they practice all week and all year. missing a short kick is never ok.
Hodges has been awful on punting. He made a good hold on the botched snap though. Not exactly like there are a hundred good punters available.
Definately was , He doesn't have the biggest leg but he's accurate and consistant with good hang time and as a holder he's done great so far especially on that high throw that he caught and put down perfectly.
Awful? Really? I'd say he's definitely a step up from Graham and I don't see how anyone could call him awful. He's been really solid so far imo.
I'd agree with a step up from Graham, but then again 99% of the free agent punters would've been the way Graham was punting at the end there. A step up from Graham isn't really a ringing endorsement. I don't expect Hodges to be on the roster next year when training camp opens.
If he plays the way he has there is no way he WONT be in training camp next season. He has been solid and while he doesnt have a big leg he has been accurate and placed some nice kicks plus he also has versatile. Much improved from ben graham
Exactly. He's a solid punter, and thats what every team is looking for. That he looks like an excellent holder is nice too. Plus, he was considered a strong legged punter before, so maybe theres something extra to look foward too.
Yep, he can look forward to getting cut for the fourth time in his career when the Jets elect to use a 5th or 6th round pick on a real punting prospect in next year's draft.
True Nugent can be trusted inside 40 yards at least. It's out of that area where he has been inconsistent Hodges has been a good pickup though
