i really cannot wait to bump these threads next year or the year after. it will be so fun to watch everyone say the same thing "well im glad i was wrong" so easy to be negative about something like this. if gholston doesn't work out than you get to run around saying you knew it all along, and if he becomes a good player you get to brush it off and be happy about it.
another "i told you so"? Great. I don't think anyone wishes bad on Gholston, we just want to see him make some plays. It is dissapointing that he hasn't done anything yet.
I think we already have a Gholston insurance policy. His name is Marques Murrell. He is a hidden gem. Why Mangini does not let him play is a mystery to me.
I don't understand why Mangini isn't considering Gholston for Sunday's game. Is Gholston really that green (no pun intended) that he can't garner any playing time??!! How could Bowens get the start ahead of him? Bowens is an ape with lead feet. I'm of the opinion that we shouldn't judge Gholston till next season by the very least....but he IS a top 10 pick...are we supposed to believe that he's incapable of going into the game in a few situational pass-rushing scenarios?? something defenitly stinks here....i just hope it's not our 2008 first round pick. hmy:
I think a good game for Gholston to actually play consecutive snaps might be San Francisco. They can't protect anyone at QB and hopefully the Jets could actually have a big lead and send him in there to get reps. A big lead is the only way he is going to see playing time... why take playing time away from the two starting OLBs who are doing an amazing job this year? Just get over the fact that he is going to sit and learn his position this year instead of being a big contributor. He is the 3rd string OLB behind two guys who don't need a lot of breaks in between series or snaps. Get. Over. It.... Enjoy Pace and Thomas. If he is an non-factor in 2010, then be really angry about the fact that he is a bust. For now, pretend he is not there.
I don?t get why the most talked position on this Board is OLB. Our Starter rock and we got some talented backups, why should we change anything?
Good point but then why did we use such a high draft pick on a position that we were already so deep at? We could have gotten better value at a position of need...Or maybe several if we'd traded down.
Can the number of people on this board who thought Bryan Thomas would be as good as he's been raise their hand...or type something out w/e. The count won't be high...and even the people who *liked* Thomas didn't think he'd be this good this year.
Actually, after last season, most people wanted Thomas dumped for how he played. Now he's playing well and we don't need to throw VG in if he's not ready yet. It's a good luxury to have atm.
Not to pound my chest...but I told everyone that he'd be the most improved jet this year. He was moving back to the position he had the most success at w/ improved personel around him. It was a no brainer.
