This quote nails it, but we seem to talk about this shit every week and hope for something different on Sunday, but the same shit comes out on that field. It just baffles my mind...
My bad typo on my part, Leon is explosive I just think Jones and Leon are way underutilized by our OC. Leon isn't a tough yardage back but get him in open space and he can take one on any play. Jones doesn't get nearly enough touches to show what he can do but I saw in him in Chicago and he was a borderline All Pro yet he comes here and doesn't touch the ball.
This is what I'd like to see as our "nickel" DL when the offense is in obvious passing situations: Pace - Ellis - Bowens - Gholston and then have Harris and Barton/Thomas as the nickel LB's, blitzing one of them from anywhere. Or switch up Thomas and Pace, have Thomas as the DE and Pace as the nickel LB coming up the middle on a blitz. Yes, no more of this 3 man DL rushing the passer. Bring 4 or 5 every pass play. Better than watching mediocre QB's carve up our secondary because there's no pass rush with only 3 guys.
Four out of the next five ? The Rams beat Washington and Dallas after the coaching change and gave NE a run for their money. Their honeymoon might be over but they are not the doormats they were 4 weeks ago. There are no "gimmes" on the schedule anymore. We have the potential to lose to anybody. Who knows what Singletary will do with 49ers , the Seahawks are always tough at home and as much as I hate to say it, the Phins may be a changed team. After yesterday's game, a 6-10 finish is more probable than 10-6.
I often wonder how much of Clemen's problems are due to coaching. His QB coach, Brian Daboll never played the position. Maybe with a good QB coach KC could fulfill his potential.
We did stink no doubt but we escaped with the win and move on to next week in buffalo and hopefully dethrone those bills from the top of the AFC East.
Colts just lost...the AFC is wide open if you are 4-3 --- Tennessee 7 0 Pittsburgh 5 2 Buffalo 5 2 New England 5 2 Baltimore 4 3 NY Jets 4 3 Denver 4 3 The rest of the AFC is sub 500 We stop the turnovers we have the talent to compete with anyone - which team above us is that unstoppable that if we play clean we can't beat?
You guys are tied for a playoff spot almost at the midpoint of the season? Why are you all down on this team? You were 4-12 last year. You already matched your win total. Careful, you guys don't wanna start sounding like a bunch of Dolphin fans.....
Johnson and White over Leon and TJ? Probably. Really, it's Johnson. I couldn't care less about White, Johnson has a dynamic that our guys don't have. Though I bet Leon and TJ would look much better behind their line.
Because we are healthy and played the Fins before the wild cat, the Chargers with injured LT, the Raiders, Bengals without Palmer, the Chiefs, the pats in Cassel's first start, and all we managed are 4 wins. The schedule gets much tougher going forward and people are bound to go down with injuries, this is the NFL, injuries are part of the game after all. With that schedule, a decent team is 5-2 at worst, a good team is 6-1. We thought we had at least a bit above average team but our team is struggling to be mediocre. The Pats and Bills player stronger teams than us and are better than us. They'll definitely get their wins down the stretch, and so will Miami. There's no more room for error. If you're 4-3 at the halfway point you're probably anywhere from a 7 to a 10 win team at best. Chances are we're closer to that 7 since we could only manage mediocrity against the worst teams in the league. A lot of us had higher hopes. For all the people that think this team is a playoff team and we shouldn't even question it, go ahead and bet your house on it. You'd be stupid to, but that's basically what you're saying, that a playoff spot is pretty much guaranteed, and you won't even consider a bad record as a possibility. But of course nobody is going to do that because most of you just want to bitch and whine about other people. Can't allow someone to have a realistic opinion because it doesn't fit your rah rah mentality that the Jets are a great team.
This is all that matters, despite champ's constant grumblings about the blatantly obvious. The 500 lb gorilla is no longer in our path with Brady down for the year, it's wide open. We have to win at Buffalo and certainly at New England, since they beat us already. Do that, let them knock each other around, and we're right in the hunt at the end, which is all we could have reasonably asked for coming into the season.
Anyone who convinces themselves that there's such a thing as a gimme game in a sport, especially football, doesn't know the sport. Aren't we the team that showed that to everyone?
Not just us, look around the league. KC over Denver? Rams over Dallas? Miami over Buffalo, SD and NE? Any given Sunday.
