Give him time, folks. He got into camp late because of the NCAA rules. He is learning an ENTIRELY new position. He has made some plays on special teams, but we need to have a little more patience with him. We gave Pace and Thomas a lot of money, so there is no need to rush Gholston.

    Have patience, Jet fans.

Its not that I expected VG to be good his rookie year, its just I expected "flashes of brilliance". Every once in a while I expected a display of monster athleticism. Still waiting.

The Pats still would have traded the spot with new orleans. The question then becomes whether N.O. would have taken Gholston instead of S.Ellis. Or if they past would the Jags still have moved up for Harvey. Either way I think Gholston would have been better off on a 4-3 team, but look on the bright side. When the jets fire mangenious and switch back to a 4-3 you guys should have a very capable defensive end.

Your joking right?? Do you even understand the job of a MLB in a 3-4 defense? I'll give you a hint, 4 or 5 sacks in a year is high and I'll bet most of those happen situations where the Defense calls a run blitz that wasn't a run and the MLB finds himself in the backfield chasing down the Qb. For such a chest thumping fan-base I'm continually shocked how little some of you understand the game.

No shit I know that, but your touting Mayo as defensive rookie of the year and hes having an average season at the safest position in the NFL to draft. I'm not the one comparing a MLB to Gholston.

If U R a non SB caliber team like us then I'm sure U know U need players to become a top notch SB caliber team instead of having a top ten pick riding the bench.

^^^ well there you have it. the kid just needs a year or three to figure out this thing called football.

if he's truly 'lost', then it's a mental thing that definetly improves with time and experience. he can only get better.

if he was starting every game and doing everything 'right' and STILL getting waxed, then i'd be a bit more concerned.

  12. This is all just another example of how irrational and ridiculous jet fans can be. I've said for a long, LONG time that jet fans secretly WANT their players to be busts. Here we have a high ceiling guy not getting playing time behind 2 very good players at his position and all everyone does is bitch and label him a bust.

Are these the same people calling into the fan whining about how Brick is too small and is a bust the past 2 weeks even though he hasn't given up a sack in over a month?

What a joke....It's embarassing to be associated w/ some of you

Maybe you should learn to read, I never said anything of the sort. In fact I was reponding to the stupidity of a Jet fan trying to make himself feel better about Gholstons lack of production, by trying to claim Mayo was struggling in some way.

Your 'message' has always been to play off Jets fans as chest-thumpers that expect to win the Super Bowl every offseason. A moronic notion, but hell, what about you isn't moronic?

Since I've been following this team in my youth, and meeting my fellow Jets fans, I have known them to be one of the most critical and downtrodden fanbases in the league. Reading through this message board should clue you into that, but you've probably only been following the AFCE closely since 2003, so I forgive you that idiotic notion just this once.

To tell you the truth, after witnessing the type of arrogance I have the past few years from Pats fans, given the fact that they have failed to deliver even in their statistical best year in franchise history, I really can't believe that even someone as stupid as you can't see the hypocrisy in your 'message'.

    You truly are a failure.

Where did I compare him to Gholston? Your the one that jumped in to back up the idiotic claim of another Jet fan that tried to say Mayo was struggling in some way. The only reason Mayo even came up was when another Jet fan said the Jets should have picked Mayo in the first place, heck I even defended the Jets by saying they didn't need a MLB. Bottom line is that like it or not Mayo's play so far has put him in consideration for DROY, if pretending that isn't true makes you feel better, have at it.

Now damnit, Koz. There you go again, beating around the bush.

I wish you'd just once come out and tell somebody how you really feel.

there is a reason he doesn't start. he doesn't even get into a game! why do you think that is? he is terrible. he must really suck in practice. dont get me wrong, thomas & pace are good, but can the guy get in for a play or two? he must be really bad...
