I want you for Head Coach, effective immediately.

Report to the Florham Park employee side entrance no later than Wed, Oct 29 at 8AM. Someone will be there to greet you.

Mangini is history. You are now in charge of this football team.

Aside from all the f bombs I am with you bro! If the Jets have a chance at the playoffs in December then I think this season should be considered a success.

Also the upside with Favre is so HUGE. I look at the 2006 team and I would say although it was great making the playoffs it was pretty empty after getting thumped in round 1. If Favre gets hot in the playoffs LOOKOUT! That has to be exciting for any Jets fan. All the negativity kind of spoils things for me. Don't get me wrong there are many times were criticism is warranted-just not now. Lets enjoy the ride with Favre however long it lasts!

The worst part about the pessimists is that:

    1. They really have no idea TF they want.

    2. They can't take a win in stride.

    3. They can't take a loss in stride.

    4. All they really use is a bunch of assumptions...for example one poster said they "sense" revolt.

    5. If they're not assuming, it's probably cause they "know" due to hindsight. It's usually as simple as "zomg, they did this it didn't work, but if they did what I think we should have done we would have been better off." It's like they can't wrap their minds around the fact that you can't turn back the clock.

    6. They have this amazing double standard that there is no such thing as an "almost win" when it comes to the Jets...like last weeks Raiders game...but there obviously can be an "almost loss" with the Jets...like the Chiefs this week.

Basically, no game can have a mistake because a mistake can't be just a mistake to Jets fans. A loss can't be a loss. A win can't be a win.

It's just a fucked up way to look at a sport...like wheres the fun in that? Unless, in some sick way that maybe I'll understand someday....it is fun?

I know what you mean, but again, your taking one weeks play, and suddenly assuming that this is how they are going to play every week.

That is not the case, and by watching any NFL game, you should know that. Even the elite teams are not at that elite level on a game by game basis. The jets are yes, in a little slump in terms of solid performance, but even with the slump, they were some how able to pull out a win.

One can look at it say: Man, we barely beat KC. Favre threw three ints that really kept them in the game. Thigpen made our defense look silly. Seriously, the jets suck.

Or, one can look at it as: We turned the ball over three times, they didn't turn it over at all, and we still won. Wow, we really are vastly superior to KC.

That is the approach some are trying to take,a nd they are getting flaimed for looking at it like that. Yes, Favre threw three ints. Yes, the defense didn't look great. Yet, despite getting crushed in the turnover battle, you still won the game.

That says something. I don't care who your playing: Not many teams can turn the ball over three times, not get a single turnover on their side, and win a game against ANY team in the NFL. Yet, the jets just did it. Blame Herm - blame whoever you want, but the jets won the game.

I repeat. The jets won a game while losing the turnover battle badly. That already tells me that the jets are a vastly superior team to KC.

Also: WHile favre does throw ints, he doesn't toss three a game all that often. I think personally, if the offense would just open up (seriously, 6.9yards per completion... wtf) you wouldn't be seeing those type of throws.

ANd, I know why on those two deep balls, Favre threw them to begin with: It sure as hell looked to me like there wasn't any other deep routes ran like that 98% of the game. When you only give favre two plays or so to possibly take a shot,a dn your trying off PA when you haven't even threatened to run ball, he is still most likely going to throw it anyways. I am not saying that is right, but it's his mentality. He always starts doing that when he feels as if he is being cuffed down.

Seriously: Magini and Shotty: Get your heads out of arse and start letting Favre be favre. Run the ball consistently, get Leon more touches, and open up the PA pass. Start calling roll out plays to get favre moving, and call 8 yard type routes instead of all these wr screens and dump offs.

It's really getting old watching the play calling.

There are so many examples (this year- every year) of teams playing great one week and then terrible the next or good teams losing games against bad teams. Think about the 2006 Pats that lost to the Fins and made it all the way to the conf champ (and should have won). Point being each game is its own unique match up. To say the Jets who lost to the Raiders have no chance against the Bills doesn't make sense to me. To even say if they play like they did yesterday then they have no chance against the Bills is also crazy to me. WHo knows? Maybe Lynch fumbles twice.. maybe Edwards throws a couple picks.. maybe when the Jets call the reverse pass the Bills safety doesn't read the play like McGraw did and Smith throws a td... WHO KNOWS?!

your right enjoy it, one win this weekend and it changes the whole view of the first 1/2 of season, football is about putting yourself in position to play as many meaningful big games as possible, well we played no big games last year and here is one already this year. We need to decide an identity and go with it. Once we do we may turn the corner.

If there is a poor showing in a losing effort next weekend: I will understand all these sentiments.

Of course, if we have a "poor showing", and still march down the field under two minutes for a game winning score (like say, Favre's only TD pass is on that drive, with 2 ints prior), suddenly the naysayers will come out and say: "yeah we won... but did you see us play. Favre was crap, our D was crap. I don't care, the Bills are obviously just pretenders".

I can see it now. For some reason, there has to be "an excuse" as to why the jets win a football game. It can't ever be because they earned the win, or because they were the better team. No, it has to be because of something else. It has to herm's fault for being conservative. It has to be favre's fault for throwing three ints.

I mean, what? I never knew you needed an excuse to win a football game.

I know I should be starting a thread to illustrate and explain what THE REAL PROBLEM WITH THIS TEAM is. But, for the sake of being flamed, I'll take a pass.

If the optimists want to rant that "a win is a win", that's fine.

But how a bout a realists point of view:

What is the future of this team........... next year.......without Favre??

buffalo, new england, st. louis, tennessee and denver.

if we play like we have the past 2 weeks we will be 4 and 8 by the time we get to san francisco. thats the bottom line. the way this team played the last 2 weeks is an absolute shame. favre deserved to get booed yesterday, he played like absolute garbage, looked alot like he did 2 years ago. ok he pulled it out but it didnt need to be that close to begin with. if you leave yourself in a situation where you have a team that you are head and shoulders better than and they are in the game in the 4th quarter you will lose more than you win. face it there are plenty of teams out there that are much better than the jets, the past 2 weeks have not been played against any of them and we are 1 and 1 in those weeks.

nyjunc said it perfectly it IS about progress, there has not been any progress. we were a better team in the beginning of the year than we are now. and thats a shame.

watching that game just was not fun, it was annoying. it annoys me when we are playing the WORST run defense in the league but we refuse to run the ball. it annoys me when leon washington has 3 carries for 67 yards, yeah 3 carries. it annoys me that i have to watch jesse chatman run the ball when he is obviously the 3rd best running back option on the team. it annoys me that i have to watch bret favre just toss the ball wherever he wants like this is a playground, he is not playing like he did last year, he is playing like he did 2 years ago, and that isnt good. it annoys me when whoever this guy was that played yesterday looks like an all pro at qb, what was his name? thigpen? who knows who cares but wtf is he doing throwing for 300? i prefer to enjoy the game and yesterdays game was not enjoyable.

Dude the Pats won 3 SBs by 3 points each time does that mean they didn't win them? The Giants had a SB handed to them by Buffalo but in the end they get those trophys.

Honestly I don't give a shit how we win them as long as we win them. I've too many games where a Jets QB plays good and yet we lose.

I understand what your saying but next year is well..... next year. We are 4-3 and have 9 games left maybe more this year. The playcalling was awful, the QB was marginal but the bottom line is it's a W and you move on.

I know a win is a win, blah blah blah. However, when you play like garbage week in week out, it is cause for concern. Fact is the Jets laid an egg yesterday against a junior varsity team. We are incredibly lucky to escape with a win... and you know what, that's just not good enough. It was a terrible performance, and I am not pleased with it. Sorry if that offends people.

Happy we escaped with a W but against a 1-5 team with there pro bowl running back out and third string QB playing and being at home and we still were terrible. Nice to get the W but in that way makes me scared for when we play actual powerhouses.

This was clearly the worst game of the season.

How much weight is put on it is up to the individual. Theres a large amount of individuals who seem to think this game is the epitome of what this team is, has been, and will always be.

But thats what happens every week...

It's not even like theres solid logic:

    - We pass alot: We should have ran. Schotty sucks.

    - We run alot: Should have passed. Schotty sucks.

    - We dominate, but only 3 out of 4 quarters: Team can't adjust. Coaches suck.

    - We can "almost lose" but never "almost win."

    Theres more...but w/e.

Alright well I think this close game against KC is great for the jets. Think about it. Everyone will realize not to take any team lightly. I mean i did expect them to wake up after the raiders game, but i believe the mentality the jets had after that game was "Ouch what a tough loss, good thing we are playing KC, this will be a nice easy and enjoyable victory." This is a wake up call my friends and I am calling it that the Jets WILL beat buffalo. Call me crazy but I see Favre throwing atleast 3-4 tds and 1 int(just cuse he's mr. gunslinger), and the D shutting down Lil'Jon...err i mean Marshawn Lynch to only 50 yards and intercepting Trent Edwards 2 times and holding him to 1 td pass.
