You, Don and Fourth are all far too retarded to understand what has been explained to you 857 times. I refuse to reiterate the simple facts that you asshats choose to ignore in favor of being as negative as humanly possible. When any of you wake up and get your head out of your collective asses I'll try and have a rational conversation with you, until then I'll just ignore the stupidity.
Even if Thigpin would have done bad the fans and media would not be saying he is a bust and ready to ship him out of town. Clemens was not as bad as people made him out to be last year and he was 3-4 with the worst line you could think of.
And look at what Farve had to accomplish to get that standard. I agree with your theory but the reality of the situation is if Mangini did that then he would be putting the reigns on and Farve would not be Farve anymore. With Farve you get 6 t/d days and 3 int 2 T/D days but he wins. We took the chance on him to try and catch lightning in a bottle and that is what we must deal with. To ask him to be something different would be a bigger mistake.
no - Saturday night went too far into Sunday morning. I did meet the coolest girl I've ever met though. I will get to a game this season - looking at Denver right now.
Reality is I'm not dissapointed with our record, I'm dissapointed that we have a mediocre football team that appears to have a lot of talent on it. If you watch the league, most NFL teams don't look all that good week to week they are inconsistent and lose on the road regularly to teams with less talent. The good teams attack the run and the passer and than run the ball even when it's not working that great. Favre's play has been dissapointing on many levels. The lack of personality this team has and the failure to have a balanced O including grinding it out on teams where we have the physical mismatch has been hard to watch. We don't comit to running the ball and we throw way to many short passes sideline to sideling, instead of down the field. Anyone who watched the Giant/Pitt game saw two teams that were tough at the point of attack on both sides of the ball, never gave up on the run game even when the run game wasn't working and threw the ball down the field not sideline to sideline and rushed the passer even in passing situations. That was a good tough NFL football game a preview to what the playoffs are going to be. Our game with KC was a duplication of 90 % of the mediocre play in the NFL every single week. We are not out of it by a long shot but unless our HC and the staff gets their collective heads out of their asses and gets this team executing sound football instead of trying to finese our way to wins and hope Favre does more good than bad, we are a mid pack team going nowhere. Our coaching staff which spent all this money to get bigger and tougher still wants to fool people rather than physically challenge them on both sides of the ball. We continually try to fool the passer with coverage than try to unsettle them with pressure with the lead. We had the lead and on a third and two in the redzone didn't have a running back behind Favre. The entire mindset of this coaching staff is finese over physical and it's simply not working.
Gholston would get lost for Quarters at a time at Ohio State and he has not been seen since the day we drafted him!!! We are asshats because we speak the truth the so be it. Do you think it odd that a number 6 pick who is a sack specialist has not found his way on the field on 3rd downs at this point in the season or will your green colored glasses not see that?
Priceless and accurate. I don't know what everybody is expecting? Besides the loss to the Raiders the rest is pretty much how I thought it would play out. It can only get better. Everybody needs to relax and stay the course. IMHO!
Well, I disagree with you. I think the reality is that even Favre knew it was stupid to throw that pass into double coverage. It was written all over his face on the sidelines. We were 21-17 and driving to ice it and after that throw we're looking at a very unnecessary loss. So even in Favre's heart of hearts, he knew that was a dumb throw and would have taken it back in a heartbeat if given the chance. That's why there's nothing wrong with Mangini having a conversation with Favre over this kind of thing. Hell, that's what we pay the man for, that's why he's a head coach. To let Favre off the hook and not at least talk to him and explore possible ways of eliminating that kind of decision-making in the future is to disrespect everyone else on the team that makes a bone-headed blunder and gets his ass chewed out for it. What's good for the goose is also good for the future Hall Of Famer (and he knows it). For Mangini to NOT talk to him about his INTs yesterday diminishes Mangini in Favre's eyes: "What's the matter, Eric is afraid to talk to me about my stupid INTs yesterday that almost cost us the freakin' game?"
I was listening to Max Kellerman today -- yeah yeah, I know, he's an assclown, but occasionally he makes interesting, impartial points -- and he was discussing the makeup of the NFL. Basically, he said the NFL is composed of mostly mediocre teams and luck. Most teams are 8-8 types:if they're lucky, they go 10-6, and if they're unlucky they go 6-10. The bad teams are 6-10 teams: if unlucky, they go 4-12, and if lucky 8-8. The good teams are 10-6 teams: if unlucky, they go 8-8, and if lucky 12-4. Obviously this is debatable and a major generalization, but it's interesting to consider. Initially (heading into the season) I thought we were one of those 10-6 teams that would swing either way. But now I'm starting to think we're more of an 8-8 team because we've been pretty lucky so far (injuries, refs, etc) but just don't look convincing. In my opinion, much of this is linked to our coaches.
Good God Almighty. Burn off a copy of this post and mail it to Mangini. CC Woody while you're at it. This sums it up in a nutshell.
I think alot of the heartburn folks are having right now is based on assumptions after Farve got here. Everybody who's really disgruntled now, and I really can't come up with a better term for it, thought this team would be 10-6/11-5 calibre. Now that the reality smacked them hard in the face, they're looking for answers in all the wrong places.. This CS is the same conservative CS we had last year. Even with Farve, this is the same conservative, unimaginative offensive system we've come to loathe. This is the same rush-3 defense WITH Jenkins as it was with DRob. Even with a $140million dollar face lift, this essentially is the same team, with the same limited group of Wr's, the same limited group of Rb's, the same OC, the same DC, the same HC. I had this team at 6-10 at best. So did a few others. All we have ever asked of this team is to play at a high level for 60 minutes and for the CS to gameplan and adapt when necessary. In the three years of Mangina, it hasn't happened yet and I seriously doubt it ever will. People seem to forget Mangina has only been a HC for 3 years and a high level Coordinator for 1. He's still learning HOW to be a HC. Its obvious he's trying too hard to be Belichek. If Mangina doesn't know who he is yet, do any of you really expect the Jets to know who they are as a team?? This team is a direct reflection of its HC, its CS and its Owner. For better or worse, it is what it is..
This is the quote that makes me agree with you.... When Eric Mangini was asked about the lack of commitment to the running game, he said, "We looked at different things we liked and went with those things. We thought we had real good opportunities in the passing game." Sorry Eric ..... good coaches exploit other teams weaknesses not go against them, and BTW I don't think it was Schotty outsmarting himself. I think he is just too stupid to realize that the Titans with Kerry Collins, yes Kerry Collins and 2 RBs about the same level as Jones and Leon ran for what 250 yards against KC just last week.
At the end of the day I just feel that Farve should be allowed to do what has kept him winning for his career. If he is out there thinking about making mistakes it will take away from his game. He is one of the few Qb's that can play like he did yesterday and win. He knows he made mistakes but at the end of the day he wins. Im sure they will discuss it at some point but Brett has to be allowed to be brett. There will be weeks when those same passes are completed for T/d's as well. One day in the future he is going to have to make the decision to throw or not throw a pass only he can complete and I would hate for him to throw it away because the last guy we had in town would not. I would rather Farve play to win than be scared to lose. Just hate we have to see games like yesterday for it to happen but that is life with Farve.
No, because we are loaded at OLB/DE - Thomas, Bowens, Pace, Murrell, Gholston, hell you can even throw Ellis in there for good measure. Gholston is also learning a new position from college. If you have good starters and depth already, why rush starting him if you don't have to and risk hurting his development? It's not like we are hurting at the position. Also I will say it again, IT IS THE 7TH GAME OF HIS CAREER! And there are 9 games left this season, give me a friggin break. You are not asshats for "speaking the truth", you are asshats for being impatient, overreacting, and bitching for the sake of bitching, like typical Jets fans. Hell people were impatient with Brick, calling to cut him - hello champ69 - after half a season. And he has been progressing very nicely this year. As for Champs comparing him to a 5th round pick. Umm...Hello...There are many 5-6th rounders, on the bench and as depth. Not every team cut all their draft picks after the first 7 games of their careers. I swear the irrationality of people on this board is mindboggling. If we don't bitch, moan, and complain about every single little thing we can't call ourselves Jets fans (there are things to be concerned over, but this? Really).
Do you honestly believe that Johnson and White are better than Jones and Leon? Jones was 2nd in the league in rushing entering yesterday and Jones is one of the most explosive players in the league. I don't know why everybody hates on TJ.....
How about putting him in as the De opposite Ellis on pass rushing situations. He did serve that role in college. Talent finds a way to get on the field.
I honestly believe the TN backs are much better than Jones and Leon. TJ is a solid no. 2 guy and Leon hasn't shown that he can run for tough yards yet even though he is tremendous in space.
Yes, and it's not close. I don't hate TJ at all, in fact I've defended him quite a bit on here. I don't see how he's explosive. He's a reliable every down run between the tackles back. Chris Johnson is explosive. Watch him tonight.
