the bottom line is we didn't blow out the chiefs and we barely got by with the win. you can try to spin it any way you want.
If u wanna look at the bottom line...then the bottom line is we WON....There's no such thing as barely or almost when it comes to bottom line... Do u agree with me?
uhh we weren't trying to dispute whether they won or not, but yeah i agree with you that they did in fact win.
but yeah, a win is a win no matter how you look at it. and whether you blow out someone one week or you get blown out it doesn't mean the same thing's gonna happen the week after. this team is definitely capable of beating "legit" teams even if we barely scraped by against the Chiefs.
Of course, this "aging" overrated superstar was second in the nfl for MVP votes last season: making him just as soon as last season the 2nd most valuable player in the NFL. Uh, so overrated? Seriously, give it a rest. You try doing things one way for 16 years, get sent packing, then try to learn a new way to do it and be tossed into the fire. Favre I think has done pretty well considering everything, and anyone who thought he was going to instantly be what he was last year was kidding themselves. It takes time, even for QB's, to learn the system.
Problem is, the team does not have time. Especially if he is gone after this year. The payoff has to be now. And everyone points to last year, how did he do the two years before that?
I don't agree with your assesment at all. The Jets and the Phins are in no way comparable. The Dull-phins had no idea who thier QB was going to be. We supposidly had our QB of the future, in Clemens. All the Favre experiment did was set us back. Favre is not a hall of fame QB at this juncture of his career. He's mediocre, at best. He cannot win the game for us. Teams don't seem afraid of his arm, anymore. They actually want him to sling it, because they will have a great opportunity to get some int's. The "super" o-line has been a bust. The secondary sucks. Our #1 draft pick is the invisable man, along with #1a(Keller). I thought Keller was going to be a force in our passing game? Without Jenkins, our defense is suspect. Our coaches have no clue how to use our players to the best of thier ability. Favre, i hope he retires after this season. His Jets career will definatly be one to forget.
First, how has going to the playoffs as a wildcard worked out for us? The only serious run we had over the last 2 decades is when we won the division and finished 12-4. With very few exceptions, the Road to the Super Bowl runs through your home stadium. Second, I am not a darksider (though I like to dabble in the dark arts now and then). Last year, I was nominated for Most Optimistic Poster. I post 'em as I see 'em...good, bad, and ugly. Third, I AM rooting for Farve, but I am on the record as being consistently against this move. It is all smoke and mirrors. I will be as happy as anyone if Favre carries this team on his back to the playoffs and the Super Bowl. I'll gladly put myself up for a public flogging. However, from everything I am seeing, my initial feelings were dead on. He is an interception machine, who will provide as many moments of angst as he does thrills of excitement. He makes the team more interesting, but he doesn't necessarily make them better. (and for what it is worth, I was all for jettisoning Pennington regardless of the Farve deal).
Favre was awful the 2 season before last year. The reason he was good last year, is that he dedicated himself like never before, during the offseason, to get on the same page as his receivers and mentally preparing himself for the season. This past offseason, he was doing more interviews than football prep. To bring him in after the start of training camp and expect him to perform at a high level was ridiculous. He won't be here next year, so I'm not sure when the time to learn the system is going to happen. And by the way, Favre wasn't "sent packing". He created that entire mess himself. I can hardly wait until next offseason when he pulls the same crap here.
We obviously have to improve to go anywhere this year, but I'll take the win and 4-3 for now. We're a game out of first in the division, Buffalo and New England have to play twice yet and we get a shot at the Bills this week. Given all the new guys we brought in, I just wanted to hang in and have a shot by this point in the season and we have. We've played (and lost to) some bad teams, but we're in the hunt so I'll take it for now. Better than being 2-5 or whatever.
After 7 weeks of playing together + OTAs + TC time they should have blended together if that is the excuse U are hanging U hat on IMHO
It's an ongoing process, champ, every team evolves from one week to the next for better or worse. Our record in 1998 was also 4-3, you never know what happens. I'm just glad to have a season going on and not be out of it already.
Yes The last part I agree with but from what I seen to date this season will end as a loser like all others up to 01/12/69
Well I live in the present, champ. No delusions of grandeur for the future and not locked on one day in the past. The present is all we really have.
If you think things click together in that much time, stop watching football. I can't believe that was posted by anyone. This game is too complex for anyone to click their heels 3 times and be perfect in one Summer.
Obviously, the problem is the coaching. The OC is still calling end arounds 5 times a game, the DC seems totally lost as to what to do even when we have a much better pass rush than we have in years and the HC just stands around on the sideline looking like a angry little brat who appears to never say a word to anyone. As bad as Favre has been he still has the ability to win the game when it matters.
I think it's a personality type issue here for some of us. The OP and others seems to see the world like this: whearas I subscribe more to the economist John Maynard Keynes' POV:
