Hey - it's less than two hours after the game. What do we have to focus on next week for? It's not like we have to develop a gameplan or anything (unless you want to find out where the beer is on sale for the Bills game) The board would be pretty dead if we didn't comment on the game that the Jets just played.
I know were in 4-3 but in the way were winning the games is disgusting. We barely won against Miami, Cin, and KC. Arizona is the only game in which we basically had dominated them and they were a good team. I hope we win next week against the bills and prove that we can be contenders but if we play like we have lately i doubt we will.
Ok, good, we beat KC, who desperately needed a good game after getting demoralized last week. We may have won ugly, but I'll take it, we won. Now next week @ Buffalo decides if we are Contenders or Pretenders.
Agree. Besides, you think our coaching staff started looking into today's game two hours after the Raiders game? Judging from the performance today, I would not be surpised if i learned they started to prepare yesterday.
Hey there is nothing like cramming for a test and barely sqweeking by with a passing (no pun intended) grade.
About the Chargers reference, they have an upside because Tomlinson was playing injured and they needed him to get their O rolling, the Jets don't have the luxury of that excuse.
To add to this debate supporting the brightsiders party, correct me if I'm wrong but if the season ended today, we would be one divisonal win from the 2nd wild card spot. NFL is chalk full of parity these days. Indy & Jax 3-3 & 3-4. Jets 4-3. I'll take it. Let it be ugly. Get me to playoffs and get me some wins. Go Jets!
Agree 100% Mississipi Jet, I am not exactly sure "what record" some of these Jet's fans expect us to have right now but 4 and 3 considering the huge changes this off season is right about where I thought we would be. Have some faith while all the kinks get worked out !!!
The fact is..wins in the NFL are hard to come by these days. The Parity is absolutely ridiculous. You have to look at the season as an ongoing process. Especially considering all the new faces we have on this roster(including at the most important position of all). The key is to rack up the wins...get better every week and hope by year's end you have enough wins to be in the playoffs and by than you have worked out all the kinks. This team HAS the potential to be a big time contender. All we can hope is that things get figured out by mid december and that we have enough wins to contend. If those things are certain...the sky is the limit.
The only team we should have lost to (in theory) is SD. We should have been able to beat the Pats. No Brady or Maroney. We absolutely should have beaten Oakland no matter who on their roster was or wasn't there - in the middle of the apocolypse - half of our team with injuries - using only Thomas Jones with 0 pass attempts. Really, they are that bad. Hell, we almost lost to KC today. KC is that bad too. So lets not get too homer-esque about a W. Cool, but still not good.
Happy as hell we won but scared at the fact we almost lost to a 1-5 team with 3rd stringers starting almost everywhere. Makes you wonder how much heart we have.
Regardless of the W-L, this team is just not very good. The 2008 NYJ: -became one of the Raiders only two wins (the other being the Chiefs) -lost to the Patriots in Cassel's first start since High School -lost by nearly 20 points to the 3-5 Chargers. They also barely escaped a loss to Miami in week one, struggled with the 0-8 Bengals, and if not for some late game heroics, would have become the second win of a Chiefs team with a third string QB and RB. I will be as happy as anyone if this team gets to the SB, but bare escapes like this one against one of the worst teams in the NFL do not inspire confidence. People like the OP will "stop complaining" all the way to some more 6-10 type seasons.
The way I see it is in the NFL most teams have equal amount of talent. It comes down which team wants it more and having a few breaks go your way. Today at the end of the game the Jets players wanted it more and in the end I'll take it. I feel in todays NFL all you gotta do is get to the postseason and you got a shot at it. It doesn't matter if your 9-7 or 15-1 get in and see if the breaks go your way just look at the Giants. I say 10 wins will get you in in the AFC this year that means we gotta shell out 6 more wins out of 9 games. Can this team do it? Idk but winning today helps you get towards there so i'll take it.
I agree. This team isn't playing well right now and they will have to turn things around if the Jets want to make a playoff push. Still, it is encouraging to know that this team can get better. I would rather have that than knowing this is the best this team can play. Still, the main problem with fans is the expectations game. I will admit that I have only started watching the Jets this season because of Brett, but it seems that expectations were a bit high prior to the start of the season. They seemed to only get higher when Brett was brought in. Now, seven games into the season, the question should be if those expectations were realistic. It seems they were not. Still, it is hard for fans to let that go. Take the game against the Chiefs. The expectation was that the game would be very easy, but it wasn't. Hence the letdown everyone feels. Just as I am sure the Redskins' fans never thought that their team would lose to the Rams after all of those tough wins, or barely squeak by the Browns and the Lions. I see the same thing over on the Packers' side. Everyone was unsure what to expect at the start of the season because of Aaron Rodgers. After winning the first two games (against what it turns out to be two poor teams), everyone's expectations were high for the season. Then, after losing three straight, the Packers' fans were wondering whether the season was over. Now, after beating a depleted Colts team, the expectations are back up again. For myself, I just try to go game-by-game. Right now, the Jets have won, which is all that counts. This game is over and the Jets need to start working toward beating the Bills. If they beat the Bills, the mood around here will change a bit. If they lose, I for one won't be too disappointed. Right now, the Bills are a better team. Still, I hope the Jets learn for their mistakes and come away with the win. Brett needs to make fewer risky throws, the defense needs to be shored up a bit (made 3rd string QB look awfully good), and in general the offense needs get more into a rhythm. I know we all wish that this game could have been a blowout, but no one will care how the Jets won this game against the Chiefs if the Jets are making a run for the playoffs in December.
That and why does it bother them so much? Who tells you to read our observations? The team is not very good and has problems, if that bothers you so much just read newyorkjets.com and avoid everything else.
