I am convinced that so many Jets fans watch the Jets simply to complain. And thats it. I think there are actually fans on here to sit and watch the games and HOPE we lose. I don't get that attitude. Why don't you just not watch, why waste your energy. There was even someone who posted on here during the game "where are all the sunshine optimist fans now???". Maybe we're too busy watching the game rather than coming on here and complaining about every single play. We were 4-12 last year. Your now 4-3. Did you really expect with a few players added, you would suddenly turn it around all at once. I repeat we're 4-3. Heading into a game against Buffalo that could put us at the top of the division. We didn't play a meaningful game last year. Now we're going into Buffalo for a huge matchup. Isn't this the reason you watch football? Are you not pumped up for this HUGE divisional matchup? I really don't get it. 4-3! The Chargers are 3-5 and still talking playoffs. There are teams that are 1-6, 2-5, etc. You have a team that has had some growing pains but at the end of the day, we put together one good game and we're off. Every team in the NFL can play. The Bills would have lost to the Raiders if it wasn't for an amazing comeback in the 4th quarter. Who cares, they won! The Chiefs destroyed the Broncos. Sure, Favre threw terrible INT's, Stucky should have kept running on the last INT, the defense looked horrible at the end of the 2nd half drive, the Jets had a touchback when it should have been on the 1 yard line, we missed a FG, the secondary had many miscues, etc. BUT WE WON There are obvious areas for improvement but in another thread people were actually complaining about the Touchdown play that Favre made. "It was too risky". 1) It wasn't if you watch football, QB's underthrow all the time, 2) WHO CARES. We're 4-3. Let's go Jets, lets beat down those Bills! We need a name for these fans that simply watch in hopes that the Jets lose and they can complain. Any suggestions?
we already matched our last season's total in wins and some people are actually saying we'd be better off with pennington
It's not just saying we would be better off with pennington that is the deal breaker for me, it's that everyone is complaining. People are litterally throwing in the towel. Guess what, there are a lot of other teams worse off then the jets right now. And, the funny part is, you were able to make all this mistakes and STILL win, showing just how much better you really are then KC to begin with. I mean, look around the NFL - Teams sometimes just have to win ugly games against bad opponents. Even the BIlls had to do that already this year with the raiders. They played a horrible game and had a good 4th quarter to luckily pull it out in the end.
These have been the some of the most painful wins I've ever seen. It's horrible when we win and I still leave the bar in disgust. Winning is everything, but when it takes until the last two minutes to escape from the worst teams in the league, every week, it really makes you wonder about the quality of this team. Now, I think Favre is a huge improvement, but the play calling is absolutely baffling. All I keep thinking is SAME OLD JETS.
I will agree with that. The play calling is stunning. Those shotgun formations with 3rd and short are stunning. If you want to go for a big pass play. You run a play action on that. You don't go into shotgun. But honestly, people saying with Pennington we'd be better off? We're 4-3, we won 4 games all season last year. And people complaining about a TOUCHDOWN pass, etc. This is too much. Maybe I'm wrong but I'm convinced so many "Jets" fans on here actually hope we lose so they can complain.
Who have we beaten? Miami, Cincy, KC and Az. All we need to do is find a crappy schedule and we could be 2 games above .500!! You're right, we should all rejoice that we squeaked by KC! Maybe we can change our schedule around and play some HS teams instead of the winning teams we now face.
This year's Pennington vs. this year's Favre. Yes, I'd take Pennington. Last year's Favre vs. last year's Pennington - no doubt Favre. However, this year is an entirely different story. At this point I dont give a crap what Favre has done in the past. I care about what he does now. And except for the Cardinals game he has been quite pedestrian. Favre is not the only reason that the Jets have a better record than last year. Jenkins, Pace, Faneca, and Woody. And if you hadn't noticed Pennington already has three times as many wins as last year.
This was supposed to be THE year. This game today was supposed to be like a walk-through. We got rid of the so-called "noodle arm" and brought in the Hall of Famer. So yes, I'll complain. We are underachievers.
It doesn't matter who the players are on our team if the coaches can't call some better games. The Chiefs were 32nd in the league against the run, but the number of empty backfield plays was insane. Why didn't we run on the 3rd and shorts?
Take your head out of the sand....unless the defense gets tighter and the offense stop making <cough> Favre throwing interceptions<cough> this team isn't going anywhere. Let's be real...Kansas City should have won today's game. How do you make Tyler Thigpen look more like Brett Favre than Brett Favre is beyond me. Last week, the Chiefs were DESTROYED AT HOME by Tennessee. Their heads were down. And yet they played much today better than the home team. A few weeks ago, you guys were talking about MUST WIN games. Next week..is the mother of all MUST WIN games. This team needs to make a statement not just to the rest of the division but also itself. Are they contenders or just pretenders? Somebody on both sides needs to step up. Right now I'm not seeing any leaders, just followers. Everyone is wondering what Brett will do. Well the Brett Favre of 2008 is not the Brett Favre of 2007. So the team has to adjust. As will the fans. We need the offensive line to start playing better. Favre is taking too many big hits. Also the secondary and linebackers need to step up. Mark Bradley shouldn't be making plays on this team. As of a couple weeks ago, Bradley was unemployed. If this team wants to make playoffs, they are going to have to play alot better. I think I know a playoff team when I see one. The 2008 New York Jets ain't it right now.
Yeah, and Miami beat the snot out of the Pats and just beat the Bills. Arizona beat the Bills and the Cowboys. These aren't crap teams.
I'm happy about the wins. Still wish something would happen to prompt Woody "PSL" Johnson to fire Herman Mangini and hire Bill Cowher.
Cool, now how about The Raiders? The Chiefs almost beat them. Way too close to be happy. Here's the problem: Mangini and co are what...3-0 after the bye? What does that tell you? That tells you this team can't prepare for a win within a week. Terrible.
Good post, all that matters is we won the game, and now lets just fix all of our mistakes, and beat the Bills next Week!!
yeah it has nothing to do with spending all the money in the offseason on Pace and Jenkins to help the defense..
So the point you're making is... that a really bad coaching staff that wins is still a really bad coaching staff? I agree with you completely!
I don't understand this nonsense going on on the board right now. We won. Favre made mistakes and then atoned for his sins with the ending. Brush off your shoulders and focus on next week.
