One thing is obvious; in case of Jets, once the game plan is conjured up, it's set in stone and there's nothing you can do to change it. Even when the situation tells them to think otherwise, they REFUSE to. That's where the stupidity lies.
The Jets in the first six games have faced one real QB (Rivers), two washed up QBs (Chad & Warner) and three nobodies. A mediocre 3-3 record after such a light schedule is not a very good sign. The only things which were accomplished by bringing in Favre was more jersey sales and a lower draft pick next season, further delaying the rebuilding process. As another poster put it, why bring in Favre when you are not even close to a "win now" situation? And as another poster put it, the team had to manufacture some artificial excitement, so they could grab big money from their fans for the new stadium seats. You either have a long term rebuilding plan which you stick to or you do a quick patch up half ass job and hope nobody notices. For the Jets, it's grab the quick buck now and continue losing later.
Good point on the negitivity savinoRB2 I could be more positive. That however does not make me pathedic or a bitch. I just get so frustrated with the team that I let my anger do the talking. Everybody has their own way dealing with situations. Is it wrong? Is it right? Who knows just different points of view you know.
Where do you come up with this? Unless you've played for the CS or are on the CS you have no idea what the game plans are going into the games and what adjustments are being made during the game.
Good point on Dungey Hemi. I have seen that guy get upset at any of his players and he has led the colts to the superbowl.
Quoted for abosloute truth.. I agree with champ, wholeheartedly.... This team is not going to do a fucking thing... The defense gave thier heart and soul out thier and watched the O play pussball for 3 hours.. Sickening.. This season is done, who gives a shit about a playoff berth. I want a mofing ring..
Well let me see. If you have two eyes, and you did not see a bunch of dumbbells who couldn't react.. Then something is indeed wrong... Look at the overtime game, they stacked the line, I still can't believe it we ran the ball 8 out of 14 times... Is this the truth.. What in the fuck
I saw us come out with no one in the backfield looking to go pass happy then when the raiders kept sending more blitzers than we could block the offense changed dramatically. I dunno, that seemed like an adjustment to me. That's just something off the top of my head from watching the game. I'd be willing to bet there were a lot more in game adjustments that went down. I think the offense could have and should have been called a lot better but to sit here and say they don't make adjustments without knowing what the plan was going in and what happened during the game seems silly.
A good Offensive team with good personal makes subtle adjustments in order to exploit what was put in to the game plan and practiced all week. What we did was reacted to the Oakland D because our game plan put our QB at risk and let the Oakland D dictate our "adjustments" We had a crappy game plan and when Oaklands D blew it up we blew up our O and went by the seat of our pants the rest of the way.
Adjustments are always made because of something the other team is doing, so they're always dictated by the other team. I'm not disagreeing that the offense sucked. I don't see how someone can definitively say that our CS doesn't make adjustments - especially when it's blatant that we did, regardless of the motivation for the adjustments.
Of course we are always making adjustments the problem is our Offensive game plans suck we can't score early in games and our half time adjustments suck because we can't score in the third period. We are being outmanuvered tactically unless you belive we have less talent in which case you can blame our lossing on physical mismatches in which case I'm good with unloading Tannenbaum instead of Shotty.
We couldn't get the ball to our WR's early....so we went to the running game. Those are adjustments...they don't kick a friggin 57 yard FG and maybe your whole opinion changes...cause it's definitely mostly based on the fact that we lost. Your point about the scripted plays thing was weird...scripting the plays doesn't mean much...sure you can score or you might not...we did score...theres still an issue. Fact is, the offensive playcalling is being bitched at because we lost. Not because it was bad. Not because we didn't adjust. It's because we didn't win, so the subtle adjustments that *were* made will be ignored cause they "didn't work." I'm still amazed at the amount of shit the CS is taking, but the players actually playing the game are free to go...they're talented therefore it's the CS's fault.
Just because someone complains about the CS doesn't mean they aren't holding the players accountable as well. This seems to be the interpretation of a lot of people on here though. The offensive play calling against the Raiders was bad. Again, I'll point to the fact that we ran only 1 play action pass while averaging a huge YPC. That's just one thing to point at. Players are obviously also at fault for the loss in Oakland but it doesn't mean that the coaches did a great job.
I don't agree we went to the running game because we couldn't get the ball to our WR early. We knew we couldn't get to the WR which is why we threw to the TE several times in a row in the middle of the field. We went to the running game because the spread that opened up the middle of the field for the TE got Favre killed.
As has been said throughout the forum there have been way to many variables to point to one thing to explain our 3 losses. Watching this team play however, two things are clear to me: 1. Our O-line and D-line are MUCH better than the last 2 years. 2. Even though our record was very different in the last two year, both of those teams felt very simmilar. I always felt like we were winning based on luck. A lucky call, a lucky drop. I fel like we were outplayed almost every game, and when we won we just got lucky. This year feels very different to me. The Oline and Dline make me feel like we are a real football team. When we lose I feel like its the other team that got lucky (57 yard fg in overtime, special teams blunders, etc). When we win we feel in control. I really believe that this team is a winning team on average, and I'm still hopeful for the rest of the season. All that lead in to state that I'm afraid of the CS listening to all the comments like the ones on this board and start second guessing themselved and changing too much. Making overly risk plays. Stupid decisions. Benching Hall of Fame QBs. Trying to make tiny RB into a power back. Sending an unproven rookie reciever downfield against bro-bowl corners. Or any number of other suggestions made here to rescue our "doomed" season.
you all realize there is absolutely no chance in hell favre or mangini are fired this year....come hell or high water favre is taking the snaps...and they are not going to fire the head coach midway through the season when they are trying to push the new stadium....its just not going to happen...
