I don't think Mangini was hired cuz the owner took a gamble, I think he was hired because he was friends with the inexperienced GM who thought it would be super cool to have your bestest friend working with you. Its like when those two guys tried to build bunk beds in Step Brothers.
he's definitely a very overrated owner. he spent way too much money signing players and forgot the most important part, a good coaching staff.
BS. Who the heck was out there at the time that would have been that much better? The team was destroyed by Edwards and Bradway and they didn't have the players to match the new regime's philosophies. That is changing and the team is improving. I don't know what else you want. you're right in that there's not much he could've done. but ppl were praising him for spending so much money in the offseason which i think will end up hurting this team in the future. unless the league gets rid of the salary cap which could happen
