Really, 4-12 last year. 8-8 was a realistic goal this year. That is what I saw before the Favre signing. I just didn't think they were ready for prime time, as they are showing now. They had too many holes to fill to be right away a contender. If you look at it from a realistic standpoint, they are right about where they should be. Alot better, but still a ways to go.
I disagree. Four wins last year, but only two were by double digits. Other than DAL and NE, they were in every game and found a way to lose, usually a new and inventive way. With the additions, this team should have won 10 games. I cannot be proud of this team going .500. Not a chance.
Wrong wrong wrong. I know some people thought we were right away contenders but I didnt. What I did expect was an above average team that would have good coaching and compete well in every game. Besides the AZ game, we either lose or just barely sneak out with a win. We played one of the worst teams in the NFL today and played horribly. On the other hand I dont think the season is over and we should fire the entire FO and CS, but some changes are necessary to at least beat teams the like raiders.
THEY ARE WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE!!!!!!!!
With all due respect to kool-aid drinking "optimists," the season is over. This was an absolute must-win game. The Bills are walking away with the division. A golden opportunity presented itself this season with Tom Brady tearing his ACL and other traditional NFL powerhouses (Colts, Cowboys, Steelers, e.g.) pulling up lame to start the year. The door was wide open. Once again, the Jets prove to excel at being just good enough for some fans and "experts" to think we're relevant again, only to cruelly dash all hopes by embarrassing themselves against a team as maligned and as dysfunctional as any in NFL history. On the bright side, we'll likely win next week; we're good at beating the Chiefs in a meaningless victory when there's nothing left to play for.
You are crazy, we were going to win around 10 games w/ Chad this year(as lomng as he stayed healthy). 4-12 ikn '07 has nothing to do w/ '08 as we upgraded significantly in alot of places. We SHOULD be 4-1 but now we are 3-3, we WOULD be at worst 4-2 if we didn't trade for Favre and probably 5-1. The QB is holding us back.
Both lines could use some quality backups but in terms of starters the only big holes are S and ILB(meaning replace Barton). The RBs played well today so if thats a hole it didn't matter today. No team can be entirely without holes, Tenn is winning with mediocre WRs and QBs. The talent is there for a playoff caliber team.
There is nothing left to play for? We are 3-3 in case you forgot with our first game against Buffalo in two weeks. Buffalo is not running away with anything, they didn't even play a division game yet. I'm as disappointed by the outcome as anyone but seriously you sound like a battered school girl. There is plenty of season left, this game will be long forgotten if they win the next two.
I do not agree with the Title of this thread! Last year we lost 5 games on the final drive and all really due to a weak armed Quarter back who couldn't throw his way out of a paper bag. That's not supposed to happen with one of the most prolific passers in NFL history. The Jets couldnt muster up so much as a touch down until the forth quarter ; whats the F@#$'s Up with that. Brett Keeps his shoulder in a sling like position for the last 3 1/2 qrt's and we couldn't keep the rush off of him if we brought in 3 more guys. I'm really sick of seeing the same Bull $@# year after year. It doesn't matter who's behind center , its the same uneven nonsense that we have all grown accustomed to. We come out sling the rock and I know a great many people were thinking "Wow this is great" , but where was the run that erupted soon after they saw they weren't going to be able to just march all over the field? This loss to me falls mainy on the coaches for allowing this to get out of hand! Rant over!
