Revis ran a 4.5 due to a leg thing around draft time... once that healed he ran a 4.33 and thats why he went 14th overall.

I don't really understand what you're trying to say here, but it sounds like you might be saying Lowery is at the same level as Revis at the same point last year? If you are then I couldn't disagree more.

How could you disagree when people were saying why did we even draft revis in the first place.. Its like this with jets fans when a player first arrives from the draft were like he sucks we shouldnt of picked him so forth and so on.. Then when he becomes a great player then next year its like everyone has a memory lapse like I never said that about him. Revis gave up a lot of big plays last year missed some open field tackles. But this year he is automatic shut down corner. Not saying he is not but once they learn the plays become relaxed they're true skills take over.

CB requires the most technique of any position on defense so it's only natural that a player will take a while to develop to his potential

There was really only a select few on this board saying that about the Revis trade-up, which surprised me. Most people were bitching about Revis not etting into camp soon enough because of his holdout. Both of which ended up working out anyway.

Revis played at a very high level from day 1 last year. Lowery is playing well considering his draft position but is being picked on far more than Revis was last year against #1 receivers.

Jets are allowing 237 yards passing per game. You're correct, they are 28th but that stat doesn't give you the whole picture. Thing is, Jets have lead 3 out of 5 games for almost the whole game and when the opponents are chasing, passing is a priority. Miami, Arizona and even the Bengals adopted the pass priority, especially near the end of the games. Kurt Warner was held to something like 80yds passing in the first half. Then the second half, Jets gave about 10-15 yards cushion on every play and resulted in 450+ yards passing for him or almost 400 in the last two quarter alone. Warner took advantage of the cushion and kept gaining handful of yards every play. That doesn't say much about the Jets Pass D, but the defensive game planning.

Lowery is awesome. He is great. He was a 4th rounder and you don't expect a fourth round CB to start immediately and be good at it. If he was a first rounder with this kind of performance, he would have been good, not awesome or great. He probably has the most value on the Jets team. Minimum rookie contract (I think), 4th round choice, and a pretty good job covering Housh, Welker, Vince, Jinn and Chargers WRs. He has been matched up against two of the NFLs top 10 WRs IMO, and did pretty good keeping them in check.

Do I prefer Mckelvin, Talib, Cason or Cromartie over Lowery? No way. They were first rounders, and are paid atleast 5 times more money. At worst, he should have been an early second rounder but we got a steel deal in the 4th where you generally expect roster depth, not starters.

You make a good point about the pass defense, that its more of Sutton playing like a bitch and not giving the ball back to the offense to run the clock out, but give the opposition a cushion to run the clock out and score points at the same time- thats a good enough reason to get rid of him, which they tried to do in the offseason.

Lowery did have a late 1st-early 2nd round projection until his workout, which pushed him into the second day, with FOs thinking that he may need to transition to Safety and his speed is a concern... luckily stats aren't everything.

    Fire Sutton.

I call Bullshit on this.............. all the big plays were on the other side. Revis is about as sure an open field tackler as they get and that was from day 1. For fuck sake his first tackle was on Randy Moss in the open field after he roasted Barrett for the 1st 2 quarters and the Jets moved Revis over.

He had one truly difficult game, one game and that was a Buffalo game and the only huge play he gave up was when Elam inadvertently tackled him.

All the people complaining big time <cough> <cough> Bradwaysux<cough> <cough> were complaining about giving up extra picks, not about Revis the player.
