I disagree, you have to play for this year, especially with all the veterans we had already brought in. For the same reason I thought Chad should have and would have started over Clemens, the Favre move--especially when it was just for a draft pick that's not a #1--had to be done. You have to at least try, if it doesn't work it doesn't work.
If nothing else he could have found one by accident. It will be no coincidence that Cotchery will have his best year ever this year. Watch. Coles might top his high for T/d's as well. How many times did he find Cotchery in the end zone last year? 3??? Is he legit?
I have to agree with this but since they took the risk we might as well roll with it. At least it should be entertaining.
He gave his best WR a chance to win the game vs us with a jump ball and the guy couldn't even knock it down to keep it from being intercepted. He's doing a lot with nothing in the passing game, and he's making a hero out of that Fasano guy at TE who nobody had ever heard of.
It makes a huge difference when you only have 5 t/d passes and none to receivers. I do agree Stats are overrated. I would compare Farve to Brady and Chad to Tarvis Jackson. That is more normal. I do post on other topics but you only notice the Chad ones. Chad prob can't even drive fast enough to run over my cat.
You can "at least try" a lot of different ways. Developing a young QB is one of the most important ways to invest in a season. And personally, I dont think Chad would have been our starter for long. But thats speculation. I'm on board with the BF side show for as long as it lasts.
The glass is half empty. He threw up a wounded duck and let our future Pro Bowl Cb intercept the pass instead of going at our Rookie Cb in his first game. If he had a arm he could have tried to complete a slant or some other pattern that other Qb's could make. Everybody knew the sorry wounded duck pass was coming.
This is a major reason why we ended up with FG's more often than we should have w/Penny and a big reason why we're scoring more TD's this year. Of course there are many other factors involved but this is absolutely one of them. Those who disagree are refusing to accept the truth.
Actually he's throwing about 25-30 passes a game. Made-up, inaccurate stats are even more useless than real ones.
Our Running game is not that great this year either but Farve has managed to throw 13 T/D Passes. Think being able to hit Wr's has something to do with it? Or is there some other factor why Farve has thrown 13 t/d passes with a mediocre to bad running game thus far?
This year we have a better line and a real blocking FB to pave the way in the red zone and short yardage. Aside from the 1st and goal debacle vs New England, it's coming along and we're finally rushing for some TDs.
Our o-line is much better and so is richardson. We still aren't consistently proficient at running the ball though. Our run game is no where near what Miami has with a healthy Ronnie Brown and Rickey Williams with an upgraded o-line. Regardless, that does not change the fact that Penny's arm strength and unwillingness to take chances left a lot of points on the field. It's why we dropped everyone into coverage on the last drive against Miami.
Is it? Then why did we do it against Warner too? Chad drove them to a TD already when we were dropped back on the previous drive, how do you explain that? We took a stupid chance if you ask me. I don't know why any team does it but they all do.
