Keller looked to be open on the 2-point conversion we missed.

That is how I feel. It's not like he is learning a Mlb or Safety position, he is a TightEnd. He blocks and he runs routes, how hard could it be to learn.

And how much better would Favre be when he gets in trouble and instead of trying to throw jump balls to 5'11 wide receivers, he has a 6'5 monster some where on the field!!!! Or when the Blitz is coming, all he has to do is throw the ball high to a streaking TG!!!!

I only see an upside from a talent of this level coming to the Jets...... just like Favre.

I still am in favor of getting Gonzo. An extra weapon can never, ever hurt. I wouldnt mind trading Baker and a 5/6 would get us Gonzo. I also wouldnt be opposed to bringing in a different weapon such as a WR like Roy Williams, yes it makes us crowded, but it gives us super depth, and makes it so we have a great problem, too many great recievers/ Tightends, too many weapons is never a bad thing.

Go get us another weapon Tannenbaum!

did you not read the article?? lol yes we need him.....it would take this offense from above average to elite just like that....see if the chiefs would take baker?? what was the point in getting favre if you arent going to set yourself up in the best position possible to win this year...if tony gonzalez becomes available for cheap there is absolutely not reason the jets should not pick him up...we definitly need him...and if you think we don't read that article again..

i dont agree on the roy williams point....too many weapons is good but when your talking about a diva position like WR it will cause controversy especially with the ultra sensitive coles in the locker room....i would leave our WR's alone...at least on the level of picking someone up on roy williams level...only because it would do more harm then good...

I would like to see us add him unless the price is too high.

The more I think about this, the more I don't like the idea.

I think it would hurt us while he got up to speed, especially if it was Baker he replaced. I don't even really care for Baker, he's an average TE.

My problem is that we are at a point in the season where we can't afford to have receivers thinking one thing and Favre thinking another. That type of thing could cost us a game and the way the division is shaping up we have to win the games we're supposed to win.

Would it be great once he got up to speed, hell yeah! But how long would that take? 4 weeks? Right now Baker is seeing most of the snaps at TE and is unfortunately the most well rounded TE of the group. To lose that stability at this point could be very costly.

If he were to replace Franks and not play much until he was up to speed then I could see doing it. I would still fear messing with a fragile offensive chemistry.

We don't need Gonzalez. I like what I see from Keller. He would have gotten another TD if that TD in the first quarter wasn't taken back. They should utilize Keller more.

Don't know - you can't say Gonzalez would not immediatly draw attention away fromt he WR's, openin gthem up, and when they drop back onto the WR's, that Gonzalez wont open up.

You can say it's that he isn't throwing to the TE, but Favre is KNOWN for throwing to the TE. Maybe, just Maybe, there not open like we like to think they are.

Shit Gonzalez is the best TE ever to play the game. Absolutely in the same category as Anthony Munoz was at Left Guard. 6th round pick? 3rd round pick. He starts tomorrow IMO.

Sorry guy, Keller takes a 3rd row back seat to Gonzalez but so does everyone else. Put Keller in to block and cut Franks. Keller is a good pro TE but he's not Hall of Fame.

I remember when the Bulls picked up Rodman, it was a foregone conclusion they would win it all with Pippin & Jordan doing the scoring and Rodman crashing the boards and they did 3x. With Favre playing catch with Gonzalez, Cotchery & Coles its lights out and we might have an all NY superbowl. That would be something.

Total agreement: We can talk about the cap space and such, but any jet fan that does not see Gonzalez as an immediate impact/upgrade over baker/keller really is blinding themselves. The guy is one of the greatest of all time has not reached the washed up time of his career yet, as before that could even happen KC suddenly went QB less... thanks largely to Trent Green just getting old and lots of headaches.

I don't know where this need is. We dont really know what we have in Keller yet, and if Coles didn't have 2 TD drops so far this season, nobody would be commenting about a lack of weapons.

I don;t really think offensive personnel is the need, moreso just some creative playcalling.....both in terms of play design and pay variation.

Maybe a better run-blocking right guard and a Leon Washignton that weighs 25 lbs more, but that's just not in the cards. Adding Gonzalez is just going to force Favre (and Schotty) to incorporate another ball-hungry player into the offense......and jsut when Brett is starting to feel a flow.

We both want the same thing but I respectfully disagree. Favre is to QBs what Gonzalez is to TEs. In 88 years of Pro Ball he is the best to ever play his position. Shockey goes to school to learn how to be Gonzalez.

If you really think he is a prima donna you have to pass to me kind of guy think again. He's going to run routes and no corner is big enough, not even Woodson to challenge for the ball and no Linebacker can keep up.

Any D can take him out of the game with a double team but then the WRs are open and in that situation Gonzalez smiles all the way to the SB. Keep Keller for later or send him in to block but he sits with this guy on the field.

No brainer, give KC a 3rd round pick or a second depending on how the Favre deal goes down and lets go for it all.

    Screw it...Why not?

He's still got it...And the Jets were already ballsy this offseason, they pushed all their chips in for Favre...What's another loan for Tony Gonzalez when they're CLEARLY in WIN-NOW mode?

When the Tennessee Titans are considered the best team in the NFL, much less the AFC...You got a shot...Gonzalez would be a huge addition, for a 3rd round pick I'd do it in a scond.
