Beltran is one of the smartest players in the game, i would like to see you name 2x he messed up in the outfield as a met.
Let me say something here. I made a smart ass comment earlier in the thread because any Mets fan freaking out over this "trade" is bonkers. There is about as good a chance of this happening as there is Santana being included with the Yankees throwing in Brett Gardner. In other words, zero possibility. If Omar were even to attempt this trade, and wasn't fired in the middle of the night, Citi Field should be hit with a wrecking ball. While Cano and Kennedy might have potential, they don't equal Beltran in terms of proven value. Any Yankee fan who believes differently is speaking from behind pinstriped glasses.
It's funny throwing Kennedy in a deal is like a car salesman throwing in floor mats. Or even like me in fantasy football trying to trade Chris Perry to anyone who will take him.
disregard my comment about you being retarded...you seem to have covered your ass nicely here with this last post
Haha. I don't normally get into the whole Yankees/Mets board rivalry thing, but Mets fans freaking out over the "possibility" of this trade just gave me an itch I had to scratch. Seriously, if this trade ever went down, I'd never defend Omar again and I would demand that every Yankees fan bow down to the genius of Brian Cashman. Kennedy and Cano for Beltran...
I agree for the most part, although I give it a 5% chance of happening. Omar is that bad and could never be completely sure he won't do something beyond stupid, which this deal obviously would be. Realistically though this rumor doesn't scare me, though the fact that he is listening to offers for Beltran makes me think he will make a trade that is slightly less crazy than this rumor but crazy nonetheless.
Nobody denied that. By saying that someone else's player is shit doesn't mean you're saying yours is better or good. "If you ignore his flaws, he's really good." If you ignore the fact that I don't have any money, you can say I'm rich. Also, in May he OBP'd .333, June was .302, and September was .303. The only two respectable months were July (.327/.352/.495) and August (.290/.336/.490), and those two months totaled a 10:27 BB:K ratio. Because the All-Star game is credible. Still respectable, but nothing mindblowing. Really weak walk numbers. Overall, adequate enough offensive numbers for a 2B. Better? Yes. Enough to make it worth Beltran? Not a chance in hell. Correlation =/= causation. Beltran is a great offensive player and a great defender already. Kennedy isn't good enough of a prospect to warrant trading Beltran for him and Cano. Are you paying it? Now you're making shit up.
I think all y'all are jumping to conclusions about the "fairness" of this potential trade. Aside from the fact that this trade is unlikely to happen, it wasn't just Cano and Kennedy for Beltran. Did everyone only read the first sentence of that article or something? It's Cano, Kennedy, Bruney and/or Veras, and another prospect. What if that "other prospect" is Austin Jackson and both Bruney and Veras were involved? Is that a "fair" trade? I don't know. But it was never rumored to be Cano and Kennedy for Beltran and nothing else, as far as I know. And it could address the Mets most serious need (bullpen) quite well.
Holy crap. In that case, I'll repeat what I said the first time, just this time seriously: You can keep Beltran. Not that those guys (with the possible exception of Jackson) are as talented as Beltran, but that's a lot to give up for him. Personally, I like Bruney and Veras, and I think they're key to us competing next year. I think Cano will turn it around too.
Alio - Drinking Yankee Koolaid again? Austin Jackson had 9 (NINE) homeruns and 69 (SIXTYNINE) Rbis in 520 at bats at DOUBLE AA, and he is as talented as Carlos Beltran? The last three years, Beltran did 27/112, 33/112, and 41/116 compared to Jackson's 9/69 in Double AA. Why do you think the Yankees bought up Brett Gardner, who is a nice little frisky player, instead of Austin Jackson? Must be from the same bowl of punch that predicted that Philip Hughes was going to be the Cy Young Award winner and Ian Kennedy was going to win 15 games. AND apparently everybody in baseball with the exception of Brian Cashman and Joe Girardi know Joba cannot be a starting pitcher with his violent throwing action.
lol austin jackson is 21 years old and 185 lbs. (plus 4.40 speed and best coverage linebacker in game.)
I know, and the Mets Fernando Martinez played in the same league at 17 years old at 200 lbs with blazing speed, played in the Futures Game at Yankee Stadium, and scouts drool over his swing and power that they compare to Reggie Jackson.
"blazing speed"? then why did he only have 6 stolen bases last year? oh yeah, he also only had 8 home runs and 43 rbis so hes obviously gonna be a garbage player. according to your logic.
Because he's not ready for the big leagues, genius. Holy shit, this might be the dumbest thing you've ever said. I stand corrected. "Violent throwing action." Your parents must be so embarrassed.
