Points question

    I was never a gambler,so i am not clear on how it works.
    say you have


    Jets -3
    Raiders +3.

    I know the Jets have to win by 4 atleast. But what if someone picks the raiders with the +3? How is the +3 covered?

    sorry for the dumb question.

    easy -- when the game starts the Raiders are up 3-0

    so if the final score is jets 21- raiders 20 actual score -- with the p3 you would win

    Aha,so the +3 unfavored team must lose by less than the + #?

    Think of it as adding the points to the final score of the underdog and from there compare the scores so as another said

    Jets 23
    Raiders 21 +3

    Raiders would win with the spread
