Yes, it's well documented I am a packer fan first, Brett fan second.

Even so - I say the ball shall not hence forth be taken out of Favre's hands at any point across the opponents 40 yard line until such a time that he struggles. While running is valient, and sure I do expect a few runs in that area, if it's 4th down and 5 or less, let Favre take the shot.

Fellas, Favre is hot right now. Arguably as hot as he has ever been in his entire career. Let him ride that wave. Just think, if Magini would of put the ball in favres hands earlier in the year, we could of beat NE and been 3-1 right now.

Don't take the ball out of his hands until he struggles. When he starts to struggle, thats when his throws can get wild. COunter act the struggles with some dump offs and power runs. Then some PA to get him back on track.

Just saying, who's with me, let favre put points on the board. He's done so more then anyone in history.

I think he should be in on all 4 downs as our punters suck wherever we are on the field!!

By the way this does rank up there in the shitty threads league

So long as it's effective I say air it the fuck out. Chicks dig the long ball. We should be able to run on these guys though, and I suspect we will.

I just hope the coaching staff notifies me this within the time I can start Favre instead of Aaron Rodgers in fantasy football.

I have no problem with throwing the ball more, as it should be our strength.

I wouldn't call him as hot as he's ever been. He's only had one good game in a row and I've seen him play a ton of better games than that (not 6 TDs but overall play just better).

Still, I kind of agree with you. It's pretty disheartening to get within the 30-40 yd field goal range then miss. It definitely makes you just want to go for the 1st down or the TD instead.

The only reason I'd start A. Rodg over Favre is cause the Packers are playing the Seahawks who think are even worse than the Bengals right now.

With Brett Favre and our talent at WR and TE, our passing game should be our bread and butter. But other teams will gameplan for this, so expect our running game to improve and be a bigger part of our offense the next few weeks. However, when we are in a big 3rd down situation or in the red zone, we should definitely let Favre make the plays

It's not just about the one good game, he has been fairly solid all season... and this is despite learning a brand new system, new team mates, etc. All that without any training camp.

I mean, come on now. Yes, he has had more impressive days on the field, but even before the 6TD performance he was doing pretty darn well out there. Even against SD - he still had a decent day out there. If the defense could of stopped the chargers those turnovers would mean little. Minus the points of turnovers, the chargers still scored 34. Not gonna win with a D like that.

ANyways, time for a shower. I know this thread was a little fanatic and really didn't make logical sense.

Or, does it? I remember reading somewhere that according to some mathmatical equations, going for it on every 4th down will end up being a bigger benefit for the offense then it is a negative. It was some study done last season, I believe. Obviously, no one is following the study, but it was fairly interesting.

If I were a coach, I would go for it on most 4th and shorts, and I would always go for it from 4th and goal from the 1 or maybe the 2 if my offense is clicking.

Throwing every down..let's not do that..

And Favre has really had just one good game. Even in that game, he threw perhaps the worst INT I've ever seen. He was okay against San Diego, and he looked good down the stretch. He had an encouraging first start. He struggled against New England a little, but he didn't get much help in that game.

I'm not knocking Favre either by saying all that. He's been a lot of what I thought he would be so far, and the last game is the level I hoped we might see him at the rest of the year. Yeah, he threw 6 TDs, but Arizona played such horrible defense, and our defense gave our offense amazing field position. Favre was on, but the receivers were for the most part wide open.

The problem with running the ball in short yardage situations is TJ cannot move a pile and he is no threat to bounce the play to the outside, so the LBs rush the gaps and the play goes for zero yards. If we had a RB who was a serious threat to bounce a play outside the LBs would hesitate to commit to the inside run for fear of being unable to beat the RB to the corner. Given the teams reliance on TJ at RB, having Favre do his signature bullet to a receiver crossing the back of the end zone makes the most sense.
