I was thinking Holiday Inn could do a commercial with Burgos....

Cal Ripkin forgets his laptop and has to run back to his room he opens up the door to see Burgos punching, slapping and biting his girlfriend. Cal runs in and saves the day but in the process injures his hand so he needs to make a phone call to Peter Angelos that the streak is in jeopardy. Next thing you know the lights on the set go out........

There's a joke about Burgos's control issues that I'm not gonna make. But it's there.

Even if we didn't use Bannister as a starter we still could of delt him for somebody decent or used him out of the bullpen.

    Jesus.

I don't think a vehicular manslaughter rap is good for a major leauge career.

Mets have confirmed that Omar has been extended to 2012. Unbelievable.

At the news conference Omar confirmed that Delgado's option is going to be exercised, and that they are working on a contract for Manuel.

Here's to 4 more years of Omar not being held accountable. Although that's how it's been his entire career why should it change now. He was awful in Montreal and hid behind the team being MLB owned as the reason for his failure and now he's found owners that apparently don't care about the team.

So apparently, if the Mets/Manuel negotiations don't work out or something, Bobby V is expressing interest.

I think this is a win/win: Either we get the coolest person ever as manager, Bobby Valentine, or Manuel signs for less than he would have because he knew the Mets could make an offer to Valentine.

Only thing is, I could care less if they get a "bargain" on Manuel's contract. The hell with that. Bring back Bobby.

Why should we care if Manuel signs a contract for less then he should? Bring back Bobby V, now!

Hey maybe we can also bring back Benny Agbayani while we're at it......

Honestly though outside of Davey Johnson; Bobby V is best manager this team has had in my lifetime. While I'm sure things with Manuel will be worked out bringing back Bobby would be ok with me.

As far as Omar I'm sure he's going to screw up this offseason and somehow find somebody else to throw under the bus. He is the Herm Edwards of baseball GMs.

Don't get me wrong, I'd rather have Bobby, by far. I was just thinking, maybe the Wilpons will spend a little more on players if they have some extra cash from the mangerial deal. But yes, bring back Bobby V!

That is exactly the reason why Bobby V will never manage this club while Minaya is the GM. Manuel is his built in excuse for failure next year, while Bobby V is too dynamic of a personality to ever coexist with Omar.

I would love to see Valentine managing the Mets next year but highly doubt it has a chance of happening.

I think that there is absolutely no way that Minaya would even consider bringing in Valentine, since Bobby V's history is to shoot off his mouth and ask questions later.

Valentine is certainly in the top 3 alltime best Mets managers (with Davey and Gil), but I can't imagine that this happens.

I'm cool with a 2 year deal; he's a good manager who can lead this team to success. No reason not to sign him.

Jeff Wilpon is the baseball version of James Dolan. Two spoiled brats that have never done an ounce of work in their lives making decisions about things that they are clueless about. Their specialty, rewarding failure.

What would you have had Manuel do this year? Pitch the 8th inning?

2 is better than 4....... that's my thinking anyway.

I don't recall mentioning Manuel or the bullpen in my post. Nevertheless I believe that Manuel is a poor manager in terms of strategic decisions who was the beneficiary of some talented players getting hot when he took over, as well as a couple "out of nowhere" guys that contributed heavily to the Mets success. The fact that his press conferences remind me of Herm Edwards don't do him any favors either.

I thought that was the Wilpon decision that frustrated you at that moment.

Manuel's definitely better than the other options though, isn't he?
