That was more the point that I was getting at. Masterson was around 3-4 in the minor league value rankings, and now he's a bona fide MLB pitcher. He seems to me a pretty good comparison against Derek Lowe, and hopefully he won't have the same erratic career (one good year, one bad year, one good year. . . ). Same style of pitcher, though. Same versatility. From what we do know now, I DON'T think they'd have included him in a Santana deal. They do now, and there's a huge hole in the bullpen.
What a game! This team takes clutch to a new level in the playoffs, it's unreal. Beckett going in Game 3, this looks very good for the Sox!
Ya!! Angels are showing no life until about the 5th inning, and by then, it's too late. If they want to have ANY shot at this they need to activate those bats in the early innings. That said, I think this series ends Sunday. Beckett is not going to allow the Angels the same luxaries(sp?) Dice-K did, he is CLUTCH in the postseason. This is why the BoSox got him. October.
Incredible game. I didn't like the Sox odds in either of the respective games, I was hoping for a split at best. Dice-K pitched okay but his performance put too much stress on middle relief which is already shaky to begin with. Great clutch performances from Drew and Bay. I am very curious to see how Becket looks Sunday. If he is unhealthy and/or ineffective then the road to another championship just got much tougher. If he is the Josh Becket of the 2007 Post-Season, this team is going to be very,very tough to beat.
Well...The Red Sox have really held their own against this Angels team... It looks like we may see a Red Sox/Rays ALCS...What a series this will be!

Good! Then the Red Sox will play the Rays in the ALCS....A team who is built to win and built to win for a LONG time. Our starting pitching with Kazmir, Shields and Garza can go blow for blow with theirs...Our bullpen with Wheeler, Howell, Balfour and now Price can blow the Red Sox bullpen away and our lineup is full of talent, speed and power... I just cant see this Rays team losing a series to the Red Sox...I just cant see it. Maybe I'm a blind homer but I have a feeling the Red Sox will see what this Rays team is all about during the ALCS...But you know what? I look for the Angels to make an AMAZING comeback and knock the Red Sox out!
