QFT. Our WRs are so underrated I don't think most fans know how good they are. Cotchery is very similar to TJ Longname, in the sense that he's a star WR without the attitude of a superstar WR. Coles is similar, but a bit more talkative. It's rare for teams to get two very good WRs with the attitudes and work ethic of the two we've got. I actually like the attitude of our big 4 alot...Coles, Cotchery, Stuckey, and Keller. All are extremely athletic, strong, physical, do their work kinda guys. It's tough...man we're gonna be a badass team soon.
If Clowney is healthy and does what he did in the preseason, how is that #4 CB going to deal with either Stuckey or Clowney?? I feel so bad for secondaries. AND the Jets can continue the single back formation they like running, with a better WR than Smith.
yeah but i think WR corps should be rated based off the premise that a QB of the same skill is throwing to all of them. We're rating the receivers talents afterall, not the teams, or the offense as a whole.
My point was that a defensive ranking does not take into account the idea that we were up 34-0 at half so as usual, a team in this situation gives up a lot of passing yards. If the rankings somehow took this into account, we would be ranked higher. Thanks for your input.
There is no question Jets have one of the best passing games in the league, it's only going to get better too as Favre and the receivers get more comfortable together, the line continues to gel and we start playing some bad teams. Alot of people are saying that Arizona's D is terrible now but they weren't terrible before the Jets completely manhandled them, we have some games against a few teams that aren't even as close to Arizona's talent level. I don't have any question that the passing game is only going to improve, I do however have questions if the running game is going to improve. IMO that is going to be the difference of the Jets having a good offense or a great one. I'm hoping the more the passing game improves it will open things up more in the run game.
While this is a very nice stat it is actually sought of a negative in reverse. It reflects we have zero running game & have had to play from behind which meant we have to chuck the rock more.. Really good teams usually are far more run then pass & do not have to chuck the rock a whole lot
Yes, half of our TD can in one game where we were ahead. Way ahead. So obviously we score Passing TD because we were behind.
Proves we could not move the ball on the ground now doe it not? U know when U are ahead U should move it via the ground as it also eats up time. Just plain basic FB stuff that I guess U have flunked somehere along the way
After 4 weeks we have seen what they are capable of, I don't have any doubt the passing game is going to continue to improve, barring injury of course. Jets have alot of talent in the passing game, 2 consistently good WRs, 2 emerging receiving talents, a dynamic RB out of the backfield, a TE with great hands and an Oline that is better at pass blocking then run blocking. Oh and a hall of fame Qb not to mention.
That is really not what I was after when I did the math. I wasn't strictly even looking at wide receivers. A number of the groups of three in the OP have TEs. A few of them may have a RB. I was simply going for each team's current top three receivers, not wide receivers. I'll grant I may have mis-titled the thread. It should probably be "AFC passing trio stats" or some sort of nonsense. Really I just got curious about how our top three currently match up against the rest of the league, then found that doing 32 teams would take a long time and cut it to our conference. It was an interesting experience. I left out a few folks who were top three for their team in catches because other teammates had more yards or had more TDs. In order to rate TDs I counted each as 50 yards for the purpose of selecting players. The Bills have a large number of players with 50+ yards receiving. If I had added the numbers for all of each teams receivers the results might be slightly different.
And we have more TDs because our defense gave us incredibly short fields. Not to take anything away from our offense because we still had to convert in the red zone, but if we're gonna look at the good stats let's look at the bad too. Thanks for your input.
No you flunked. Yhour ignoring the fact that over half of our TD passes came while we were ahead. I never claimed we could move the ball well on the ground. Nice attempt to side step that.
^The stat has to do with the "top 3 receivers" however that is measured--I think MD described it earlier and I think it is by yardage. So, according to his stats, the other 4 TD's passing must have come from receivers not in the top 3 in yardage. Or, could be a mistake.
