After Favre's first TD thrown, he went to the sideline and high fived a few teammates, Ratliff being one of them. Ratliff had an earpiece in his ear and must have been close to in bounds. My question is that I would be inferring correctly if I wondered if Ratliff quietly and discretely has passed Clemens on the Depth Chart? It makes sense to me after Clemens' pants shitting performance against San Diego.

Anyone else see it or have any insight?

I think all QBs listen in on the offensive communications during the game.

No idea on the truth of this, but it would make sense to me.

Did I miss something about the SD game? You think Ratliff has passed him since he threw a meaninglesss INT on the final drive of a blowout?

I think you've made a good observation. I have noticed the same thing. I don't necessarily think that Ratliff has surpassed Clemens (we don't know how they are doing in practice), but I think Ratliff is being smart. He is always around Favre on the sidelines, talking to him when he comes off the field, and I'm sure picking his brain about all things football. As a young QB, you would be smart to be all over #4 and get everything you can from him. The guy has been around 15+ years in this league, why not make the most of having him on your team. On the flip side, every time I see Clemens, he's standing in the background or sitting on the bench. I really like Ratt's enthusiasm. He's always the first to congratulate guys coming off the field. I don't think Kellen is playing this card very well...I want to see Ratt become the future of this team.

I believe Kellen is doing just fine. He's going to be a damn fine with clipboard in his hands throughout his career. May he never hit the field again.

I caught this too on NFLR. He came into the field and congratulated Favre and a few other guys. But I think Blair Thomas is right, I think I seen (on a few teams, not sure if all) all the BCKUPQB's have earpieces.

Correct. Ratliff was the 3rd QB while Clemens was the backup. My guess is all quarterbacks have access to the play calls coming from upstairs.

Clemens had an earpiece on as well. Once the fans moved out in the 4th quarter, I moved down to sit a few rows behind the Jets bench, and I will confirm both QBs had ear pieces in

I'm very, very ambivalent about that ... only caught glimpses from the game but boy are those ugly (the uniforms)

did you see either being more involved in playcalling, or any QB being more studious on the sidelines.

By the way I'm fairly sure Ratliff was inactive last week. He may have been tagged as the emergency QB.
