Have you ever seen his post history. He is without a shadow of doubt, in the top 2 or 3 least knowledgeable people that post frequently on this forum. It was totally serious............
Every time I saw him in, he got single teamed and handled pretty well. I saw him do a swim move once to get by, but it was too late to get to Warner.
Was Brian Thomas the #1 defensive player on the board and picked in the top 6? Hell no. Gholston better show us something by the end of year. He looks outmatched out there. Was kinda hoping he would help with the pass rush, but its all still a work in progress i guess.
it takes time for players to develop and learn...give this guy a season, maybe even two to get up to speed. Now can somebody translate the above sentence from "English to Downs Syndrome" so Don can understand...thanks
+1. I honestly don't know why we don't line this kid opposite of Ellis. I mean Bowens is more than serviceable, but his skills set appear to be better suited for the DE spot.
To add my two cents: Do you guys like Calvin Pace this season? Did you guys count how many years he sucked as a DE? How about he also had to learn this new OLB position? That didn't happen overnight either, right? Lay off on the kid - Gholston will be just fine. Believe me.
Heh, I was wondering why a good poster like you made an ignorant comment like that. This is why I sometimes hate teh interwebz.
i couldnt stop yelling at this kid all he does is fucking bull rush the fucking tackle. Your not gonna knock over these 325 lbs ots in the nfl this isnt college anymore put a fucking move on your guy and make a fucking play
F '10. Week 6. I'm patient with Gholston, and looking foward to his devlopment. That said, he'll be contributing significantly way before '10 IMO. It's a long season, and he's going to learn alot. With the bye coming up, I think he finally gets that fuckin...sack that seems to be alluding him. Once you get one they just kinda start rolling in...
I get the feeling with Gholstone we drafted a 4-3 DE. Turing him into a OLB is not going to work for a while....... maybe not ever. Just a feeling though.
Yea, its a good thing that both Pace and Thomas were not drafted as 4-3 ends. Oh wait! They were? Damn, I guess that sucks for us as well. They'll never turn into good 3-4 OLB's.hmy: He's a young pass rusher making the transition to a new position. Give it a year or two before he's labeled a total bust.
sure would have been great to go into the 4th with a nice big lead and put him out there the entire quarter with no worries about whether he would miss an assignment. i wish i wasnt so lazy or i would go back and find all those threads about how great he would be and how much of a difference maker he would be this year. i am sure there were a couple "he will put us over the top" posts too. but you dont hear too much about those now.
Good points...but using logic doesn't work in threads like these. I've stopped trying to argue with people who are so quick to write off someone. Folks who jump ship so quickly just don't understand the complexities of football and think that we can just cut/trade/label anyone that doesn't play all world after a few weeks in the season. Not saying that Vernon will do anything in this league. . .but to write him off knowing full well he was work in progress is ridiculous.
With Bryan Thomas' 4 sacks and Calvin Pace tearing it up...where exactly will Gholston be going right now? Calm down, everyone. Depth is never a bad thing.
