Ok so they let up 35, which may have been more of scheme than players, I am not sure. But there were some standout individuals making plays on D that should be recognized... Revis, 2 Ints. 1TD Pace, Sack, FF Ellis, Sack, FF Bowens, 2 Sacks FF Lowery, 9 Tkls. 1 FF Lots of big plays, even though the D was being torched in the second half. Plus the nice one handed pick by Smith as well. Bowens was great today.
Revis is unbelievable... The two OLBs are playing great.... But Jenkins is a huge reason for this... I think he needs another appreciation thread.
revis is a stud, i hope he is here for a long time ....and pace....makes the offseason spending spree worth it, even BT is getting in on the action, although the complete fall apart in the second should have been avoided, i'll blame that on sutton
I'm still rubbing my eyes, I didn't think we could cover these receivers. Revis is a standout phenom, pro-bowl type player we have here.
Wow...Post of the day in my eyes! Could not have said it better myself! Lets not forget David Harris and Kerry Rhodes, both of those guys were flying around the ball! How many rushing yards did the Cards have? Exactly! The Jets were playing with a HUGE lead the whole 2nd half...Sutton and Mangini went into a soft scheme which allowed the Cards to eat up yards in the passing game but @ the same time...They took a lot of time of the clock on some of those 2nd half drives... Just look @ what the Defense did in the 1st half... They played great. Yeah we gave up some points and a lot of passing yards but @ the same time, it was BECAUSE of the huge lead we had... Some football fans will never understand though Great post man...Honestly, I'm proud of the way these players were playing today... We had a HUGE lead...And by the scheme we were using, you could tell...It was obvious that Sutton was playing soft and simply protecting the lead, I cant complain
This is the truth. The Jets surrendered 470 yards of passing this week. It's a good news bad news situation. Revis has been playing very well. Lowery is a player who looked very good first two games, but for some reason OC's have been trying to isolate their best receiver on him the last two weeks. it has been very successful. Lowery is gong to be a very good DB. Right now he is playing across from a potential all pro CB, and QB's are being game planned for Lowery. They can't leave Lowery on an island any more. Over the next two weeks the Jets are going to have to find a way to support Lowery when he is being attacked. Which he will be. I think the bye comes at a very good time for the Jets. They now have a week to counter game plans against their D, and a few winnable games. Think the CS will fix the soft spots in the DB's, and the O looked pretty good today.
Lowery is a rookie. This was his fourth NFL game. Revis is the other corner. What the hell would you do if you were the cards and had two good WRs? to the OP: You left out a Revis fumble recovery on the Warner forced fumble at 2:05 left in the first half. Revis has had a great month.
Could have been the scheme. Could have been the fact that Airzona has two #1 WRs. Fact is, Lowery has the potential to be great and is flashing some of that potential already.
Some Big Performances on D from those guys but damn im suprised i didn't realize Bowens had 2 Sacks and a FF.
Sutton pissed me the hell off today. Take away that big second quarter we had and the game would have been all Cards.
I don't disagre with the potential. I don't disagree with his talent, the scheme, or the fact they have two #1 wideouts. ALthough, it should be noted, most teams have two #1 wideouts. GB does. Heck, the Jets do. So does AZ, Rams used to before retirement. Colts. Technically... the panthers (Mushin was the #1 for chicago the season prior). it's not like the Cardinal's are one of akind with this 2 #1 guys. Some of the best offenses period have that advantage. I was just noting that overall, Lowery should not be considered as having an oustanding defensive performance. When I saw his named listed due to a fumble recovery (the recovery usually isn't the important stat, but the person who caused it) and 9 tackles... I just didn't get it. I wasn't trying to knock him, I just think he didn't have a good day and is getting undeserved credit for one.
-Revis has really developed into a shutdown type corner. Teams simply arent throwing in his direction - Pace is very strong against the run..and looks alot beter in pass rush compared to what he was in Zona. He's a very likeable player. -Jenkins right now is the best NT in football.
Yeah, those are gaudy stats, but I personally think that the one who set the tone of the game was Kris Jenkins - his HUUUUUUUUUUGE field goal block got the offense going, and the Jets never looked back since.
That's the scary thing about him - he's only in his second year and already he might be the best DB in the AFC.
I really can't think of another AFC CB who holds his own against the league's best WRs like Revis does.... And he looks like he does it with almost no effort... He really is great to watch... That Revis locks down our opponents' #1 targets has meant that Lowery is getting a crash course in how to be an NFL CB these first four games, as QBs aren't gonna want to throw towards the other side of the field. He's going to have his ups and downs- and a lot of downs- but this experience is going to be very good for him.... He's already in the right place very, very often, but he's often a step late, or just off when trying to jump routes. It's all going to improve though, because he has great instincts, and is going to get a ton of opportunities....
Ive watched him in disbelief, thinking he's "Not that good" but when I watch other Nt's including the aforementioned...they just dont dominate the way he does.
