Just once I'd like to see my teams be succesful and by that I mean winning a championship. My favorite sport and the season is going down the drain yet again for my team.
Once the Brewers win tonight the season will be over. Even if Santana pitches tomorrow what happens Sunday? Or Monday? Who Niese or Perez in the game with Milwaukee? I hate Omar and the awful job he did with this team. If we could have one of those 30 games they lost after leading in the 7th we'd be in good shape. 30 freaking games......
It's depressing, I'd rather this last weekend mean nothing than to have these guys not get the job done for the 2nd year in a row against a team they should beat with making the playoffs on the line.
I don't know, man. This season might end my baseball days. Certainly, my die hard days. I like the sport less and less with each season in large part due to the handling of pitchers. I don't like pitch counts (I remember the '80s, when "pitch count" was something ya'd hardly ever hear). Also, I hate relief pitchers.
2nd straight year of a September meltdown. Why isn't Minaya taking any heat on this? The bullpen has blown what? 30 games?? How can this happen? Why wasn't any moves made? The Mets are starting down that slippery slope of September chokers that might be almost impossible to shake. They can't play under pressure anymore for some reason. They're playing like they're older than they really are. No excuses this year. Hopefully, no one buys into the bullshit they'll spew next year with the new BP. Same personnel shows up on opening day? Same result in September. This team just isn't good enough anymore and its time for a change be it in the FO or the roster..
I'm pretty pissed off, but all I have to say is that if Minaya receives an extension after this season, it would perhaps rank just under Isiah Thomas's Knicks reign as the most ludicrous retaining of an executive for any team I've rooted for. Also, while I'm here, I'd be cool with Manuel sticking around next year; I feel that he has done the best job he can possibly do given the circumstances, and that his level of competence is one of the few bright spots this season.
