that was another aguayo special. fukudome was playing like there was a pitcher at the plate and that was a hard hit ball. got very lucky there
I can't watch, I'm freaking out...someone explain the slide thing? How did that change the play? This game is it, I think. They win, I think they have the momentum to close it out. They lose, they're toast.
Church was out dead to rights at the plate, and he didn't slide but instead twisted his way around the catcher and plate, and then jumped back and tagged the plate just before the catcher could tag him. Everyone does realize that all of this will just make the bullpen blowup to come that much more painful, right?
He's not a top 10 prospect because of his age (28), but he's been raking all year. .362 with 25 homers in Iowa and that couldn't have been that many games. His only two major league homers are tonight. I wish I was there tonight. I like the rain. Gets rid of fair weather fans.
He was out by about 30 feet and the catcher was on his knees so he sort of swerved around him and touched the plate after he went by. Damion Easley is TERRIBLE why does Manuel keep giving this gimp fuck at bats?
i'll try. basically, cancel singled to right field. the throw comes in straight to the catcher who is standing on the 3rd base line a few steps in front of home plate. church does what i guess is the baseball equivalent of a juke move (!), more like a twist to his right to avoid the tag, but misses the plate. he then has to dive back with his hand to touch, just beating the catcher. it was kind of exciting!
Okay, I'm going to go on record now that the Mets have NOT been the slightest bit "gutless" or choking in this game. When they lose now, as they almost certainly will, it is for no reason other than that their bullpen is a piece of shit, which of course is why Omar should go.
well martinez certainly isn't in there for defense. looked like castillo or easley going after that ball.
Easily the worst third base coach in the majors. Fukudome has a good arm, plays shallow, and fielded that ball very quickly. He was out EASILY and I knew it wouldn't even be a close play as soon as they said he was rounding third. Didn't need to watch the play at the plate. I'm glad I did, though. How many times has Aguayo sent guys who were obviously going to be out? With the bullpen we have and a retarded third base coach, we're not going anywhere. Oh, and we only have three pitchers. Cancel had 8 starts this season coming into today and Ramon zero.
He played in 71 games in Iowa. I don't know where the spent the the other 70+ but the PCL is definately a hitters league. Dallas McPherson hit 42 HRs and Nelson Cruz had 39. Terry Tiffe hit .378 but was well over .400 most of the year.
I would've kept Feliciano in to face McGehee and Fukudome. I don't get this move for Smith. Pirates and Brewers tied at 1 in the 7th.
