Poteat is da man! He plays with great heart, hopefully Lowery can sponge from him too. Disclaimer: I'm going into "typical Jet fan" mode with this one, but I think it is a valid concern. We have only two backup OL on our roster now-Turner and Hunter. That's it. A bad OL injury streak and Franks is now a Tackle. That must be the plan, yeah, that's the ticket.
Wow - I think between the two of them they can cover all o-line positions though. Hopefully we don't have to see either of them. Nice to see Poteat back. It was only a matter of time.
Everyone knows how much I've been waiting to see this happen. Great job FO! Now get caught up, cover that slot and kick some ass Hank! Welcome back!!
yeah its good to have him back i just wish we would've released drew "toast" coleman instead. fucking guy, i'm going on madden tonight just to cut his ass!
Now hopefully we can cut Ainge, Graham, Hodges, Feely, or Nugent, so we can actually have some depth at the line spots... Even Drew Coleman.
That is cool, I am a fan of Poteat, the guy may not be a starter, but he's got great technique and instincts and he's pretty quick if not very fast. During the Pats game every time Coleman got beaten I kept asking myself "Why the hell did we cut Poteat and keep this bum???" Seems like he's someone a guy like Lowery could learn from, too. They have similar skillsets. Welcome back, Hank.
Poteat is Back Headed out for practice in a moment but this little bit of news: Eric Mangini, at the end of his morning press conference, announced the Jets had signed Hank Poteat and waived Will Montgomery. Not to speculate - okay, just a little - but that's strange timing, bringing a guy in on a Thursday. Might there be someone banged up that we don't know about? Possibly/probably/maybe, but the Jets are a mess at safety right now - and haven't covered the slot well at all - so, regardless, the move makes sense, although I kind of liked Montgomery's potential. Back after practice. http://blogs.trb.com/sports/football/jets/blog/2008/09/welcome_back_hank.html Why didn't they cut Carroll?
It's because Miller's still banged up and Drew Coleman sucks. Ahmad Carroll has been playing well on special teams, that's why he's still around.
