I'm just wondering if those of you who continue to say "we need more time to gel" can specify how much time you're thinking. A week, a month? I agree, it's a process, but something needs to start happening and it needs to start real quick. This is two early losses, and if the gelling process doesn't occur soon, then it'll be 3 and possibly 4 -- which would then make us about 3 more losses away from Playoff elimination. So when will the Jets be gellin?
After the BYE week I will be done with giving them time and expect results... When I hear Alan Faneca say "We won't be the same Week 10 like we are in Week 2." That's cool Alan...But if you're 3-6 going into Week 10 it kinda puts a damper on it!
It seems the Jets are going in circles. Every year it's "rebuilding," now this year they go out and bring in Favre (plus $140 million worth of FA's) and now it's time to rebuild for the rebuilding to finally gel.
We will lose next week, but I think we need to be 5-4 by week 10 or 11 to have a chance at a run, and I think we can definitely make a run around then.
So is that what we're calling the cutoff, the Bye? I hope you're right, otherwise, it's bye-bye Playoffs. I think what's frustrating is that the NE game was winnable, and last night's game seemed potentially winnable until the onside kick. Yes, Jenkins went down and that affected the overall Defensive execution; still, you need to have a backup plan in the event something like that happens. There needs to be a secondary scheme of stuffing the run and applying pressure. We have two new major components on D: Pace and Jenkins. I'm willing to give them time to gel. However, the other players have been in Magini's scheme for a couple of years now, and they all still haven't got it yet. So at what point do we start asking, "Are the players talentless idiots who can't execute and grasp the D, or is the Coaching Staff a collective schmuck?"
If your a male aged 41, 34.6 years; 51, 25.9 years;61, 18.2 years. That's on average how much time we have to gell.
Just remeber as a percentage of lived life Champ is aging less than you each season that we don't win a SB.
Love it. I hope you don't mind if I use it in other contexts. It kind of makes me feel younger or at least like I have some kind of advantage !
I hate when folks say that this is "only 3 games". How many teams get to the end of the season and then miss the playoffs by one game. A game they should have won early on but, ya know, "It was early in the season". All the "gelling" should have been done in training camp. There's only 16 games, every game is important. This is a year round business now.
The problem is, teams like the chargers, colts and co. are not going to stay down forever. Now was the time to strike, regardless of gelling or not. It was a chance to get a game up or two in a tough conference. With the afformentioned teams struggling, once they right the ship, will it be too late for the Jets?
I'm not an optimist by nature, but not a pessimist, either. If the Jets win next week much will be improved in their overall situation. Anyone seen the line yet?
I'm giving it till after the BYE week. I knew there was no way these guys were going to be a well oiled machine instantly. If they aren't clicking by then I think unfortunately this season is a wash and Favre will most likely retire again. Damn I wish we took Joe Flacco.
Let's not forget that most prognosticators had us at 1 and 2 at this point of the season. So did most people on the board. The vast majority felt that if we got to the bye at 2-2 we'd have a shot. I'm not ready to panic and throw everybody under the bus just yet.
I'm thinking by about week 10, this team will reach most of its potential. What this team needs to learn how to do is win games WHILE they're still gellin. They were able to do it against Miami, but San Diego and New England were too tall tasks because you're right, if we fall to something like 2-5, it might not matter how we play late in the season. Arizona is a perfect gut-check team. They're a solid team, but they're beatable. They are in the same boat we're in, in the sense that they think they should be playoff contenders, but they aren't quite sure how good they are yet. I just hope we can pressure the quarterback. We did that well in the first two weeks, but Rivers had all day yesterday.
