yeah, took a lot of balls to run the ball the entire second half, go 3 and out because you are afraid to let your QB throw the ball, and blow the game.
Sorry to say it, but I am very afraid that Woody will back his man until it's impossible to do so... Have you seen what has transpired in Detroit? Be afraid, be very afraid...
Nope, great College Coach not an NFL coach. Besides he's a West Coast guy and would never leave one of the best coaching jobs in existence to coach a pathetic franchise that already screwed him over once.
one of the few rational thoughts. even though we were down that whole game and I wanted to see us win, really the only thing I was thinking about the whole time was. No Kris Jenkins, no defense.
What kind of offer do you think you'd need to make to lure Pete Carroll away from USC? The man is practically set for life at USC and always has a new batch of the nation's best high school prospects to work with. Leave SoCal under those conditions to come and basically do a full rebuild of a professional organization with the lovely NY media. You wouldn't take that chance so why would he?
Of course the obvious answer is Cowher. The question isn't whether the Jets SHOULD hire him, it's a question of whether Cowher WOULD be willing to coach here. My gut feel is no, he wouldn't. For some reason, this franchise is the kiss of death for many coaching careers. Belichick was smart enough to see that. If we can't get Cowher, my choice would be Brian Billick. I said this in another thread and got laughed at. I don't know though - the guy is a proven winner and his teams always seemed to be tough and disciplined. Toughness is something the Jets have lacked since Parcells left. Any better choices out there that aren't just a pipe dream?
Bill Cowher against Bill Belicheck: 1-4 including two playoff losses. No need for a retread that also cannot beat the top dog. I'm not saying Mangini is doing a good job, but the man love for Cowher is a bit much. It took Cowher 15 years to win a Super Bowl. Jet fans have a patience quota of 1.5 years. That's a marriage bound to fail.
Has he even been seen in public since he left or whatever that was? Of course Cowher would be the #1 option, but perhaps our reputation in the NFL is so bad that BC will say FU to us.
Man, I do not knwo if this thread is a joke or what? In 2006 mangini was a genious, now he sucks? People call for Cowher or Marty? I know Cowher is a good coach, BUT his teams did LOSE 3, AFC Championship games at home, before they won the SB.. Has Marty ever won a big playoff game? He is 5-13 lifetime.
Which is one more than we've appeared in since the merger, none at home and no Super Bowls. I'll take my chances.
But Cowher won't get more than 1 chance. The Jets are an organization that fired its coach after losing one AFC Championship game. And there was no audible outcry from the fans in protest after it happened.
