They certainly do have a high scorind offense. But do you think if Chargers are leading by 2 possessions, we will call 3 draw plays and punt on every possession? I think we will be aggressive in our approach and will see alot of spread offense especially early in the game to disrupt SD's defensive strategy...
Oh, I'm with you there. I get the sinking feeling before almost every game. This week we get an extra day of it.
Their weak pass D will work perfect for us. We're going to lead them to believe we'll attack their weakness, but in reality, it's gonna be T Jones left right anxd up the middle
Good thing Monday is my bowling night. I'll be home just in time to mute Tony Kornholer so I don;t have to listen to his arse on MNF. That should help me get the day over witha little quicker.
I also want to point out that part of the reason the Chargers defense is giving up a lot of yards is the absence of their leading tackler in 2007: ILB Stephen Cooper. He typically clogs the middle and protects the end zone in passing situations. He's currently serving a 4-game suspension for a banned substance and won't be back until week 5. His temporary replacement isn't as good and athletic as he is.
Don't give these guys kudos for 'almost' winning their games. Bottom line is they're 0-2, meaning they didnt have what it took to win those games. What we should be worried about is their sense of desperation they'll be playing w/ on Mon. They know if they fall 0-3 their playoff hopes takes a huge hit.
Current team stats after Sunday's week three game but before MNF: NYJ Offense - Total yards per game = 25, Yards per play = 17 SD Defense - Yards allowed per game = 31st, Yards allowed per play = 27th SD Offense - Total yards per game = 5th, Yards per play = 1st NYJ Defense - Yards allowed per game = 7th, Allowed per play = 6th I still maintain that this game is on the Jets offense. If they can put together scoring drives we can win.
actually, Cottrell is a pretty good coordinator when given the proper personnel.... with the jets there was a story that during the 2001 draft when the jets took all offensive players from rounds 1-3, he stormed out of the conference room at weeb's hall saying what the hell am i doing here? i am sure there is more to it than that but the jets did him a disservice in providing 4-3 personnel to a guy with recent 3-4 experience. add to that the jets had been playing the 3-4 pre-herm and were much better fit for the 3-4 with their team at the time. another cluster fuk from the herm/terry "we have a plan" edwards/bradway. jil
From what I've seen, he has shaky success with a 4-3 and only when he was with the Bills did he truly have good success, and it was with a ton of talent. He coached a 3-4 in Minnesota, then they brought him in with a ton of talent to SD and you have to wonder how that dynamic offense has had on what success he's had there. He's running soft cushions when his best pass rusher is out. Favre loves slant passes. I think we might click on offense this week. But will our defense be able to handle Gates and Sproles and even a limited Tomlinson? I am confident Revis will be able to hold Chambers, although he's a very talented guy. The key matchup in this game is Rhodes versus Gates. If we can get the lead early, I think we'll be able to hold them due to the current build and performance on defense.
