I'm not a big "Win Now" guy, if you plan to win 3 years from now and sustain that philosophy, the winning seasons become consecutive... like the chargers.

    Just how i'm wired.

I think Chad went there due to Parcells, Henning, and crew. He would have a running game defense in MIN

Chad Henne hasn't started an NFL game yet either and Trent Edwards has about the same starting experience as Clemens and while he has started the season decently he has alot to prove as well.

Your original post was.. Henne, Edwards, where the fuck is the Jets young talented QB. I pointed out that is a ridiculous thing to say, the Jets have 3 young QBs with talent on the roster, the only difference between the 3 teams is that we have a HOF QB starting for them this year at least.

I couldn't figure out why Miami had signed Chad in the first place. I'm guessing Parcells and Co were taking a flyer on a charged up Chad beating the Jets week 1. Oops.

^ I find it extremely amusing when they pan to Parcells after a shitty Penny pass. He always has a disgusted look on his face.

So they signed him to a two year deal for one game?

I don't think they signed him for only one game, but this is the NFL - there's no such thing as a two-year deal. His two-year $11.5 million contract is (as far as I can tell) $3.5 million in a signing bonus, $4 million in salary this year, and $4 million next year (I'm not positive about that - I haven't seen a definitive description). That means it will cost them $1.75 million against the cap to cut him after the season versus almost $6 million to keep him, so I would be surprised if he's still on the team next year, particularly if they do bring in Henne in a couple of weeks and he does okay.

If Chad (Pennington) beats the Jets week 1 then he's probably their QB until late in the season when the accumulated weight of losses by a bad team begins to argue strongly for looking at the young guys.

If Chad loses to the Jets then the odds are enormous that somebody else is getting a look by mid-season at the latest. In this case two losses in a row have knocked Chad to the bench. Given that fact it's hard not to see the move by Parcells as a gamble on week 1. It's week 3 and the gamble failed so he's moving on. The right move BTW.

I don't think it was the loss to the Jets... I think it was the beating they took against the Cardinals, with New England being next that has this team thinking future.

The Cards are actually a decent team. We're going to be in a battle against them in two weeks.

As to the Dolphins and looking towards the future: Bill Parcells is a very smart guy when it comes to that kind of thing. He knew the only game the Dolphins had a real shot at early was the Jets at home in the opener. He certainly didn't think the Dolphins were likely to go into Arizona and upset the Cards, particularly if they couldn't beat the Jets at home in week 1. He aimed at the Jets with the Chad signing and then he moved away from the bet as soon as it didn't work out.

Maybe Chad will hang it up after the season and become our QB coach next year! F**kin A!

I like Chad as a person and respect all of his struggles to come back from injury. But the man just can not play QB effectively anymore. I think his signing in Miami was to be a HTF guy until Henne was ready.

Henne will start the second half of this season and next year. In 2009 Chad will be renegotiated to be paid as a backup QB or just let go.

I think there was more to it than just categories. A lot of us just want to move on and not keep being reminded of our ex when we're trying to surf all things JETS.
