I see your point, but I'm already at a stage where I acknowledge my appreciation for the current stadium and readily acknowledge that I'll miss it a lot. But I don't think it should stop a franchise from moving forward.
Exactly. Nothing lasts forever. Honestly, I still have much more of an issue with cheaters breaking Maris' single-season HR record than I do the Yankees building a new Stadium.
The difference there is Cameron is a HS gym and most of duke's great history has happened in the last 30 years(I know they made some FFs in previous eras but they didn't sustain success) so Cameron is nothing compared to Yankee Stadium plus duke couldn't sell out 20K+ seats a game like the Heels do:smile: I don't really care about individual records, I like team accomplishments. This Jeter record is a team record so it means more. That's why you love ARod b/c he'll break records and I hate him b/c he always chokes when we need him so I don't really care about the HR record especially when it took Maris 8 more games to break it. That moment happened in yankee Stadium like a million other great moments and now the yanks are selling their souls for a few more dollars.
I knew it was silly of me to think you could keep up this conversation as an adult for long. Here we go again with the "You <3 ARod who is a choker" bullshit. It's tiring junc, and I'm really losing my patience with conversing with you. The first time you mentioned ARod, I let it go, but this is fucking ridiculous. Do you even know how to have an adult conversation? Or do you simply need to fall back on your most stupid arguments whenever your original one fails? Forget I asked. I know the answer. As for your argument about the "team record" that's about as retarded an argument as you've ever made. How in the world does a record that only matters to Yankee fans make any difference whatsoever to anything? If ARod ever breaks the single-season home run record he'll be immortal. When he breaks the career home run record, he'll be immortal. Jeter's "most hits in the old Yankee Stadium" record will be forgotten in a few years, tops, except maybe by you, who will point to it 15 years from now to show how Jeter was clearly the best player in pinstripes of his entire era. Blah, blah, ARod chokes, blah blah, Jeter is teh aw3som3, blah, blah. No wonder Mets fans bitch about Yankees fans. I'm sure you pull this same shit offline too.
Well unfortunately, this thread started with the intent to steer the conversation to a referendum about Yankee Stadium rather than actually talking about Jeter's accomplishment.
You are the one who is taking it another direction. The facts are the yankees care less about winning and more about money which is why they re-signed ARod. They could have spread that money out and improved the team but they needed a big name for the Stadium opening and wanted to make more off him as he pursues the HR record as if it will mean anything w/o Championship banners. I couldn't care less about ARod's meaningless HRs, when he starts hitting them when it matters I'll stand up, applaud and be impressed. You like to be entertained I like to win that's why you love ARod and want the new Stadium. I don't care about ARod's pursuit of the HR record, REAL Yankee fans will know what a choker he was and how he never helped us win while the man w/ the most hits in the World's most famous Stadium outside the Coliseum helped us win 4 titles. Baseball fans who care about history which should be most of us. This is the most famous Stadium in the World outside of the Colisseum. He passed LOU GEHRIG AND BABE RUTH in the last few weeks. That is a big deal whether you care about it or not.
Well, if you really wanted this conversation to be about Jeter, the very first post would have had a different tone. It would've looked something like this: The second you brought your stadium agenda into a thread that it had almost no relevance to, it was meant to be addressed. You can't just then turn the tables after the fact. As for the rest of your post, I see what you're saying, and you certainly have a right to believe it. But I don't think anyone here is going to call you unsophisticated for not wanting a new stadium, just as you probably shouldn't say that want that Yankees to win more than other fans, and that's why you want the new stadium. That's just ludicrous. The Yankees winning has no bearing on which side of 161st street they're on.
Don't you dare try to turn this around on me. You started the thread to discuss Jeter, and you included the Stadium. I discussed both. YOU then brought up the ARod bullshit you ALWAYS fall back on. Personally, I give about as much a shit as ARod does how frigging impressed you are with him. When he wins a World Series with the Yankees, keep your ass in your seat. You're not a Yankee fan, you're a fan of whoever you choose to base your argument on that day. Stop telling me why "I love ARod" since you obviously don't know a damn thing. I like ARod because he's arguably the greatest player in the sport, and one of the greatest players in the history of the entire f***ing game. At some point, he's going to help this team win a title, whether you like it or not. As for your idiotic dig that implies I'm not a "real" Yankee fan, how about you just STFU already. My father went to the last game in the "old" Yankee Stadium on his first wedding anniversary. The first Yankee game I ever attended was in 1978. I was raised a "real" Yankee fan. "Real" Yankee fans don't root against ARod just to keep "proving" their asinine claims. But what do you know? You just like to argue about things, no matter how frigging stupid you sound. Forget it. I'm done with you. I knew I never should have taken you off ignore.
You don't think it was right bringing the Stadium into it when it was a Stadium record? That's odd don't you think? I am not on here telling all fans I want to win more than they do but w/ Alio that is the case. He wants to win obviosuly but he enjoys being entertained and he has said that many times before which is why he loves ARod. he lieks watching ARod hit HRs no matter how meaningless they are, I like to see the Yankees win. I don't need a new Stadium w/ all sorts of new amenities, I just want to see the team win. I'm sure the new Stadium will be nice but it won't be the building where all our great history has taken place and I just don't understand how Yankee fans cannot appreciate that. Yeah it was crazy of me to bring up the Stadium when the record was a Stadium record Nah, I'm not a Yanklee fan b/c I want to see the team win and root for losing players like ARod to win over and over and over again and give the guy chance after chance after chance. It's folks like you who criticize Jeter and Torre that are the real fans! I know why you love ARod, you have told us before. You like being entertained and that's fine- don't take it personally. I apologize for the real Yankee fan comment. I know you are you are just a different kind of Yankee fan. On one hand you really want to win and you'll criticize Torre, Jeter and many other guys but on the other hand you are satisifed watching the "greatest" player of this generation(at least the greatest fantasy player). I NEVER root against ARod, I just state facts after he kills us time after time. Not one time have I ever not wanted him to get a hit, I have always wanted to him to do well as he is such an important player for us. He is the bigest reason why we haven't won anything since he's been here and it's not a coincidence that our last WS appearance came the year before he got here. Thankfully he wasn't on the team in '03 b/c as bad as Aaron Boone was for us if ARod starts that game at 3B instead of Wilson and ARod comes up to the plate in the 11th there's no way that game ends there. It would have kept going and Boston would have had more chances to win as Mo was done after the 11th. You are so silly w/ the ignore stuff, you don't like people w/ opposing opiniomns especially those that back it up. Tell me one thing in this thread I said isn't true? Whether you agree or not I speak the truth.
I'll respond to your stupidity one more time, simply because I'm sick and tired of you putting words in my mouth. I didn't disparage your putting the Stadium in the conversation. Quite the opposite, and you're really pushing the whole "twisting an argument" thing here to make yourself "right". As I said, your bringing Alex Rodriguez into the conversation was the ridiculous thing. Jeter and the Stadium were the original conversation, not ARod. Yet, as soon as the conversation turned against you, you just had to bring my supposed love affair with ARod into the picture, just to deflect from your poor point about the Stadium. (And it was a poor point. It's just a building. The history lies within the team.) As for your stupid habit of changing other people's arguments to make your point, that's why so many people already have you on ignore, and why I'll be adding you to my list once again. You're not right simply because you change what other people say. I never ripped Torre or Jeter just to rip them. I ripped them for specific incidents or specific traits. I gave Torre credit when he made good decisions, and ripped him for bad ones. I give Jeter lots of credit, but when he's grounding into inning-ending double plays, I give him just as much shit as I do to ARod when he does the same thing. But none of what I just wrote matters because I'm sure that your next post will totally ignore all of the above and you'll imagine I said something totally different so that you can "prove me wrong". Sorry, but I'm done with that bullshit. You have no concept of how to carry on an actual conversation. All you want to do is prove every other human being "wrong". Well, have fun with that because I'm done.
I don't need to make myslef "look right" b/c I am right. The ARod point was a vaild one. I said the Yankees don't care about winning as much as they used and they care more about making $$ which is why we are moving into a new Stadium and why they re-signed ARod and GAVE HIM A RAISE! The guy has ONE RBI in his last 16 postseaosn games and he got a hefty raise! They wanted him to be around for the new Stadium b/c they know he brings in casual fans who want to see him hit HRs(You are not a casual fan so don't take that statement as a knock on you) and they want him to be in a Yankee uniform when he breaks Bonds HR record so they can cash in on that. I don't twist anything, prove it. You guys always whine and can never prove anything. I don't care if I don't get into discussions w/ someone like you. Put me on ignore and then you can have fun w/ your buddies blaming Torre and Jeter for everything. How has the letting go of Torre worked out? You blamed Torre and Jeter more than ARod which is ludicrous when the guy had ONE RBI in 16 postseason games. Matsuzaka in 1 game in the WS had 2 RBI, just let that sink in. It's obviously Ok to criticize any player or coach but to attack them the way you did and forget all the great thinhgs they did for us while rarely criticizing ARod when he has been the main culprit was wrong. Again, please show me where I am making things up? Stop whining and actually prove something fopr a change.
It's a neat stat, but nothing overly spectacular. He's been a Yankee his entire career, and in todays day and age, that's more incredible to me.
