He actually looked like a real NFL receiver for the first time this preseason. He's probably the #1 backup to Coles if he goes down.
brad smith i'm just tired of seeing to be honest sometimes he'll make a spectacular catch then other times he'll play horribly
Don't know, its' a probowl LBer vs a midget HB... But yes, I would expect T. Jones in there for pass protection... really miss C. Martin, that guy was a machine back there... he cut people down no matter how big they were.
Little Leon is about 200 pounds, Adalius Thomas is 270+ Leon is lucky he didn't get knocked on his ass, can't blame him for that mismatch, that's coaching and Brett Favre's fault. Also, I was skeptical about Stuckey being as he was a 7th round draft pick who has never seen the field and has injury issues, I have to say I have been pleasantly surprised.
Hey, Stuckey is the team leader in TD receptions; who woulda thunk it? As for Leon, that had to have been a coaching mistake or some other blitz pick-up error because you can't ask him to do that. To Washington's credit though, after that, some other big Pats player blitzed (might have been Thomas again), and Leon cut him which took him out, so he learned not to even attempt to try and stand up and block someone much much bigger than he.
Kid looks like the real deal he has a nact for getting open and making the big play. So far he's our leading receiver and leads the team with 2 TD Catches. Keeps it up and he'll be another bright spot.
In 2 TE sets he should not be the one kept in for protection. Our pass protection is light years ahead of last year. 2.5 sacks against per game is not great by any means, but for a unit that has played two games, one against a top flight front 7 in the Pats, things could be a lot worse. We are on pace to give up 40 sacks. A hell of a lot better then last years 53.
40 is still way too many, but I agree, our pass protection is definately better so far this year. We just need to make sure Leon is not out there trying to chip block, because he gets owned every single time. At least 2 of the sacks this year were because of his inability to block. I'm not saying he has to dominate, obviously he is too small. But he has to learn how to deflect pass rushers and not get run over.
He got in front and was run right over....... Horrible mismatch that shouldn't of happenend in the 1st place. Leon looked like a little kid getting plowed by Adalus Thomas
there are so many things i disagree with in this thread i am sure to forget one. first things first can you guys please get off coles back. jesus h christ you guys are like fucking vultures when you dont care for what a guy thinks or says, his issue about pennington really doesnt fuckin matter that much and that is the sole reason why you guys are all being assholes towards him. grow the fuck up and give it a break the guy dropped a couple passes sure you shouldnt be happy about it but using it to get to your real childish issues is absurd. leon needs to make that block. that is what rbs do in this league, westbrook is a little guy too and he makes that block all the time. do i hate him because i didnt, no but he needs to make the block. you cant use a guy and only do one thing with him it gives tendencies to the defense. if you ALWAYS send him out in a pattern the other team will know that. sure its what he is good at but jesus do you guys not understand that teams study film? same thing with keller, everyone is so hot on him. the kid is a poor blocker, when he starts to block better and doesnt show tendency to number one its going to be a pass and number 2 he will probably not be blocking then he will get more playing time. chansi stuckey has always been good, oh but he got injured so he was trashed by many around here. i am glad that clowney got injured if only for the fact it has allowed stuckey an opportunity with which he has taken done very very well. brad smith takes up a roster spot because he is a special teamer and a VERY good one at that. please understand this, please watch the games please realize what guys do that isnt on espn. this was probably the most frustrating thread i have read here since herm was around.
No. Coles bitched and moaned all offseason until he got his guaranteed 2 year, $10 million contract. After which, he chose to passive aggressively question the moves of the FO (Favre in, Chad out). He continues to mention the fact, and his play appears to be suffering. His bad attitude has been noted by his peers in his losing his captainship. He deserves everything we throw at him at this point. No. Leon needs help with that block. 5-8 200 lb. Leon should NEVER be expected to contain a blitzing 6-2 270 pound Adalius. This was a blatant protection scheme error which falls squarely on the shoulders of Schotty Jr. He should have had help...period. Agreed. He's a rookie. His emergence will take time. We need to have patience. We also need to use him more in the passing game regardless. "glad clowney got injured"...I'm not even going to touch this one. I like Stuckey a lot, and we all know that his injury is what has held him back thus far. Let's just hope that last year's sitting out was left over from college; and that is how we stole 1st day talent in the 7th round. Agreed...Leave Brad Alone! No, the 15 bazillion Chad vs. X threads were the most frustrating threads following herm's departure.
