I'm more mad at Coles because his dropped passes Sunday have gotten ignored over the ZOMG EVERY COACH MUST DIE(!!!) attitude here.

His dropped passes have been pointed out numerous times, and even I will say that they were unacceptable. Week 1's drop was understandable to me, but not this week's. However, for people to act like the guy just flat cannot play anymore, or that his attitude sucks when that's already been disproven repeatedly, I just find it hard not to call it out as reactionary, and less than educated.

Also, no one seems to point out the big catch he did make, or that Cotch just might have actually been guilty of PI. People only see what they want to see, and then only point out what fits their argument.

I think the main focus here is that we have enough offensive power to had blown out Miami. The reason we didn't, is placed squarely on the CS...

Sorry, but no passes for Coles Alio. His attitude has been lousy since the Farve signing and its showing in his on field performance. His loyalty to Chad is admirable but his petulant and dismissive attitude towards Brett Farve is inexcusable. If he wants out, fine. Let him quit and forfeit the rest of his salary.

Coles is no longer the #1 Wr on this team of mediocre Wr's. Actually, with Stuckey in the game, Coles isn't even missed. Coles can move on and take his attitude with him. This is the same guy that left for the money not long ago. Now? I hope the Jets trade him to the Raiders or some other NFL Hell..

Wow, I'm really trying not to get into this argument again, but it's a f***ing stupid one, and I feel a need to point out just how f***ing stupid it is.

Coles has NOT had a bad attitude, and I've PROVEN it repeatedly. All this bullshit that he's had a problem with Favre or that he wants Penny back is BULLSHIT. I showed how different writers twisted the same conversation to "prove" that he's got a problem with Favre, and how the SAME exact conversation, with a different reporter, showed he has no problem at all.

Coles IS the best WR on the team. Cotchery is great. Stuckey is pretty good. Neither is as good as Coles. Cotch could be, but isn't yet. Stuckey, at best, is a #2.

People act like Coles is invisible and no one is even covering him when he's on the field. Why the hell do people think Cotchery and Stuckey are open?

You've proven nothing Alio. You like Coles so I would expect you to defend him to the death. To say this is a stupid argument is arrogant on your part.

Coles, at this point, definetly is NOT THE BEST RECEIVER ON THIS TEAM. Try to let that soak in. Cotchery is the best and given the chance, Stuckey and Keller will both surpass Coles.

Lucky for you and Coles, our CS still has its collective head up its ass. They still operate as if CP is behind center. The way this is going, CP might as well be still here.

You love Coles? Fine. Don't disparage differing points of view though by calling them stupid. You only make yourself look like an arrogant know-it-all..

    Peace

    Hahaha, that's great.

Anyway, let's get back to talking about it then. As I proved, the same exact conversation, spun two different ways, told two completely opposite stories. The only two things you can go by are 1) the actual words he said, and 2) the dynamic visible between Favre and him. (Of course, the other option is to just blindly believe what the newspapers tell you, like a good sheep, but my point is: try to use your own brain to formulate your own opinions.)

As far as 1, his actual words, without any spin, were innocent, and showed absolutely no malice. He proved himself to be a good friend to Chad, and willing to admit that he isn't yet on the same page with his new QB. Considering that when the comments were made, he had had all of two practices with Favre, and an unsuccessful game behind him, it's pretty understandable, and if you don't think so, then there's no reason for me to bother even attempting to have a rational discussion with you.

As for #2, they have lockers next to each other, and have been seen numerous times laughing together. Whenever Favre has been asked about Coles, he seems to like him. Whenever Coles is asked about Favre, he hasn't said a single poor thing about him. Unless of course you want to stick with the theory that by him saying he isn't yet in synch with Favre, that it's somehow an indication that there can never be chemistry between the two.

As far as your assessment that Coles is not the best WR on the team, we clearly have differing opinions. I could argue that Coles' drops, especially being the result of contracted practice time, have been far less detremental to this season thus far than Cotchery's stupid pass interference. And yes, it was a legit call. Of course, I don't see anyone mentioning the long catch Coles did make that set us up for that massive 3-down failure, but why bother, when it doesn't support your point?

As for Stuckey, please. The guy is exciting, but he will never hold a candle to Coles' ability. Will he grow to be more important than Coles in the offense? Probably, unless we draft an elite #1 that pushes everyone else down the depth chart next year. That doesn't make him a better receiver than Coles though. And thinking he is, well, again, we can stop any rational discussion if that's your argument.

As far as Keller, he's probably going to end up the best receiving threat on the team. But he's not a WR.

It's unreal how Jets fans act. Keyshawn Johnson was run out of town because he dissed Wayne Chrebet, who people loved, even though he was right. Coles is being run out of town because people believe he can't "get with the program". Vinny Testaverde was adored, even though he sucked. All these guys are simply products of perception. If the newspaper tells you to love someone, you do. If the paper says "No, touch. That bad." the person is a criminal. It's sickening.

It's not arrogance. It's simply looking realistically at people and judging them based on talent and contributions. If you want to judge guys based on the words of Cannizzaro though, go right ahead. Just let me know in advance, and I won't bother taking you seriously.

If the Jets lose to the Cardinals in NJ week 4 then the odds go way up that Mangini gets fired a few weeks after the bye.

I don't think either of those things is really very likely to happen, but the Jets must beat the Cardinals in their second home game week 4. That's a must win at the moment.

Alio, I completely agree with your assessment of his perception. It's truly amazing how people eat up what these reporters want them to.

I think Cotch has surpassed Coles as the better receiver but Coles can still make huge contributions to this team. That long reception last week was vintage Coles. Those drops were unacceptable, hopefully he gets that cleaned up.

    ---
to the original topic - our secondary is way better than the Lphins secondary and I think we can get more pressure on Warner. Comparing the two games (jets vs. miami, miami vs. ari) is laughable.

I'll go this far: at this exact moment in time, Cotchery is the better wide receiver for the New York Jets than Coles is.

By mid-season, I am fully confident that statement will be false.
