Youve got to be kidding. I give the giants all the credit in the world. But they were a playoff run away from all getting fired -- and dont tell me you saw them running through the playoffs like they did. (Cowboys choking -- again -- didnt hurt).

Kidding about what? Are you saying their coaches arent superior?

My take is that the Giants team played aggressively on d all yr. Forced the issue and dominated at times, all the while maximizing the skillsets of their best players on both sides of the ball. This is a concept which has alluded our
beloved duo of sutton and shotty.

They either dont put their best players in position to succeed or stiffle their talents through overconservative playcalling.......so yes they fucken suck and I would rather have the giants coaches.

Btw we were 4-12 last yr in case you dont remember.

My point is that the Giants were a hair from firing him and after 0-2 they wanted him out. Plus, he had done nothing -- maybe they are better -- but if you believe they are then you should be asking for much more time for this staff.

Fair enough, and maybe im naive but Im thinking that maybe mangini doesnt fully trust these guys and has therefore been hancuffed. I think the fact he has stated numerous times how he values westhoffs opinions only adds the my point that more experienced(better) coordinators would be given more sway to make adjustments. Mangini is smart and while he is pissing me off as of late i choose to sperate him from the dead weight dragging this team down.

They have had plety enough time for us all to see what they have to offer. Nothing will happen so they optimists are safe. Me, im thinking without a major change in philosophy on both sides of the ball we are screwed.

A few members of the Giants' coaching staff have been there longer than Tom Coughlin has. Among these are running backs coach Gerald Ingram, tight end coach Mike Pope, and defensive line coach Mike Waufle. I think they have all made good impacts on the organization because of how good they are at their respective positions.

Having said that, I do agree that a lot had to come together for the Giants to make the run that they did. Keep in mind though, that through the first two games new defensive coordinator Steve Sapgnuolo had not yet fully implemented his defense and we were running mostly cover 1. There was also some issues with Strahan being out of shape due to his training camp holdout and Kiwi playing linebacker for the first time.

What I am getting at with all this is that the defense got better once they adjusted to a new coordinator and the offense has done well because of a few mainstay position coaches.

Finally, I think it's a stretch to say Coughlin had done nothing. Back to back playoff appearances for the first time since the Bill Parcells' years is nothing to sneeze at. The main concern was if Coughlin was losing the players. He was too, but then implemented the leadership council and changed his approach.

Holding Randy Moss to two catches isn't just a positive, it's a freaking hallelujah because it tells us that Revis is going to be able to hold his own against just about anybody when the Jets eventually get to the point that that matters.

    And pizza is always positive.

    Too conservative

the Cardinals threw the ball at will at Miami. I think Warner had 3 or 4 TDs against Miami and we almost lost that game. The bottom line is that for the last two years we have had no creativity on offense. You bought Favre for his credentials and then what to you do? handcuff the guy by running the ball and throwing sideline passes. More importantly we have a much improved receiving core with the addition of Stuckey, and Keller (1 catch). You can't play not to loose and even NE was taking shots when they were ahead. Honestly I'm not that impressed with Mangini. In NY the pendulum swings too fast in either direction. He better open up the offense or this is going to be a long year. As for the second half running game that we couldn't stop, our defense was tired from the 3 and out by our offense in the second half. Someone tell Mangini to grow a pair of balls. Why did they go out and get Favre for? to manage the game? I don't think so.

As much as I love Revis' play so far, especially against Moss, I don't think yesterday was an accurate barometer. I watched Moss like a hawk and he was dogging it almost the entire game.

This is only going to make people make the hindsight biased observation that the Giants were *always* good, they just didn't "click."

See, they were ALWAYS aggressive last season...not just the Super Bowl. The Giants were innovative from Day 1 last year, unlike us.

"Wah wah wah," cried the Jets fans.

Coughlin took over a 4 and 12 team went 6 and 10 in his first year and made the playoffs 3 straight years including a trip to the SB. Yes he was still a hair from being canned.

Fact he had a ton of experience and the owners new him and wanted him. They made the big leap forward when they upgraded the staff around him. They also have drafted better than we have.

^Good point. One can not underestimate the effect of having good experience and good minds to advise the head coach.

And let's just see how much tigers change their stripes. When he had someone who could fire the ball to him downfield and bring him glory, he was happy as a clam. I wonder how happy he'll be with the dramatic drop-off in his stats.

Exactly. As soon as Brady went down we saw pre-Brady Moss in a press conference, complaining about dirty play, and pre-Brady Moss calling for Culpepper in an interview. Then we saw pre-Brady Moss on the field on Sunday. Not that I'm complaining, I'd prefer he kept playing like was was in Oakland.

Why do you have to take it upon yourself to interject this bs on every topic that involves opinions where someone might not be on their knees swallowing every bit of green juice coming from this organization?

Its not outlandish to appreciate the giants coching staff, and in light of some of the outlandish threads going on your instigating might be better served there.

"Wah wah wah," bitched the company man.
