Nothing has changed as far as I am concerned on stopping the run. Lamont Jordan ran at will in the 4th quarter when we desperately needed a stop to get Favre back on the field. We simply could not stop them with time running out of the game. The pass pressure is better but if we cant stop the run we will be a very average to below average defense when it is all said and done. The additions of Pace and Jenkins look great on paper but if you are honest with yourself they flat out blew at stopping the run yesterday when we needed a stop to stay in the game.
They only ran for 3.1 yards/carry yesterday. The same draw play over and over again did kill us in the 4th and was annoying as hell.
they did fine -- they were on the field all day -- our second half possessions were 3 and out, 3 and out 2 and out - we gained 13 in 5 series---offense needs to open things up -- we allowed 19 points - and the offense play calling was beyond awful
Obviously you chose to ignore the fact that I was referring to your team as a whole. I see you're looking for any opportunity you can find to beat your chest like an ape on here today. Get a life. Like I said the 4th quarter wasn't good.
Jordan was a fucking battering ram in the 4th quarter. While he was with the Jets, that was his role behind #80. Herm and Bradway seen it fit to let him go.
Looked like the Jet D was gassed again to me. Too much time on the field or perhaps the conditioning program during the preseason was as soft this year as it was hard last year..
When they spelled Kris Jenkins, I thought the run defense sucked...the heat factored in, but I agree the run defense should be stouter
That was the problem he carried defenders for an extra 2-3 yards on every carry...by the way I always hated Grogan "The Turtle"
While a 4th qtr battering ram is very useful, it is not what L Jordan wanted at that time and the $$ he wanted was not what a 4th qtr battering ram should be paid. Now L. Jordan got to be a starter, saw that he wasn't really that good at it, and now he is happy as sh1t to be a 4th qtr battering ram for a team that is favored to go to the SB every other year.
I think they looked decent, definitely much better than last year. When the Patsies started using Jordan, the defense was gassed.
Historically, that's about the only time Jordan is truly effective. I agree they looked good early on. The pass defense sucked a goat schlong, though. I think it was more the playcalls than the performance, but Coleman was picked apart all night. Looks like we found our new David Barrett.
coleman wasn't very good against the Lphins either. That's why I wanted to see Lowery mirroring Welker yesterday. Poteat > Coleman.
What I didn't like was the fact that the draw worked on so many plays... to see the defense respect Cassel when he dropped back before he handed it off was annoying.. stay up on the run and close it off. Lamont Jordan is a good back if he is in shape- the Pats aren't going to let him be a fatass like he was in Oakland.
The defense was definitely tired, but we really needed a stop and someone needed to come through for us. What really irritated me was when we had them on 4th and 3 and they gave up the 1st to Welker.
