Hey, a new topic--good work, champ! Now that we survived Chad in Week 1, why do we need to still have threads about him in the NYJ forum? I'm just glad Revis made the play on the last ball and Stuckey made the play when Favre threw the same ball. That would have been an awful loss after being up 20-7 late in the 4th quarter.

Time to move forward, fellas. Chad will be fine in Miami, hopefully we'll be better here.

Then why in God's name did we get conservative in the 4th. Mangini should have let Favre put the ball in the air and make a move..

Got to ask Mangini the answer to your question. That is if he will even give you a truthful reply

Let me ask you guys a question: who here was really nervous that Chad was going to lead the Dolphins down the field to a game-winning TD last week at the end? I wasn't, and I'm always nervous about that kind of stuff. I looked at who was throwing the ball and I figured, accurately, that when the field became short at the end of the drive he'd have trouble throwing the ball in to the end zone and probably get picked.

Revis interception was in the back of the endzone near the corner, that's the ONLY place that Chad throws to any more because he has to place the ball perfectly or it will get picked.

My reckoning was that time would run out before he could win the game. You know the theory is the the more you make somebody throw like CP dink & dunk game sooner or later he will erred which is exactly what he did

If you weren't nervous you're either lying or not a Jet fan. Miami had walked down the field the entire 4th quarter, Chad had thrown two TDs in the red zone and was right back inside the 20 with time. He's completed that corner fade pass to Coles for TDs about a hundred times, so I was worried. Revis made a great, juggling INT with Ginn pulling him down after getting boxed out. Chad went to his #1 guy on a pass he's good at throwing, luckily our #1 CB is further along than his #1 WR.

I was getting Bruce Coslet-era flashbacks most of the 4th quarter.

I guess some of us do not have the same faith in CP that you appear to have

It's not faith when he's on the other team. How many times have we been beaten on the last drive by good bad and average QBs? For all the bullshit about how Chad can't bring a team back, there they were at the 18 yard line after being down 20-7 late. You don't need to throw it 60 yards to score from there and as I mentioned he'd thrown two red zone TDs already. Again, our guy made the play, let's be happy with that and move on. If Revis played for them Stuckey's TD might have been a pick, it's a team game, luckily our team won.

There are two stories to CP's career.

The career before the TWO SHOULDER SURGERIES (that no other NFL QB has ever returned to the game from) and the story of CP after these surgeries.

Yet so many Jet fans talk about CP like story two was all he ever was to us.

If I can remind you all, no he wasn't always a dink and dunker that lost the game at the end. He used to be a guy who spread the ball around and COULD win the game at the end. If anything it was our 4th quarter defense or special teams or poor play calling that casued us to lose in those days.

    Is this still going on?

I think it is time to move on.

I've watched Chad enough to know that he never gets it done when he's in a pressure situation against a superior team. It would have been like a lightning bolt from the sky if he actually pulled that one out at the end.

Against inferior teams he'll win that game, but against a team that has his team overmatched he's going to do exactly what he did, which is to throw a last minute interception or throw an incomplete just out of reach of his receiver on 4th down.

Now if the Dolphins had just needed a FG for a win (or more likely a tie) then I'd have been sweating hard.

Chad played one of the best games I have seen from him in years. Sadly enough it is still not enough. Once again #10 sealed his teams fate with a classic pick 6 with seconds remaining. The game was close because Mangini went into the prevent offense and Defense to early.

Those teams you refer to are not this team right?

A pick 6 is when they run it back for a TD. This was a juggling INT on a desperation jump ball in the end zone at the end of the game.

So close, yet so far. All the BS about how Chad can't bring a team back held true last week. I don't care how close he was, he didn't do it - again. Our D sat back and waited for him to float one into coverage. He tried more than once.

Get back to us when he finishes the deal.

The problem is he has to throw desperation 18 yard lobs and not 20 yard ropes on designed plays when the game is on the line. They dolphins lost the way we have been losing for years and it was sad to see.

That's a pretty simplistic analysis. If they ran out of time at the 50 because he was throwing 5 yard passes it would have held true. Once you get from up 20-7 to them taking 18-yard shots at our end zone, it's beyond whether or not the QB alone can get it done. If he alone couldn't get it done and we were just sitting back, he wouldn't have thrown two TDs in the red zone already, one on the previous drive.

We've been losing on juggling 18-yard INTs in the end zone all this time? You and I have been watching different teams then.

If we could sit here and point to a few times where he actually led his team to a TD in a two minute drill to win a game I'd agree. Can we?

The pressure was on and the defense was sitting back in coverage waiting for the duck. Pennington failed at the comeback yet again.
